Captured Cities/Castle's garrison...
Whenever I am out capturing citites or castles and I win, the garrison is empty for a while.
And since they are empty for a while, the faction I took the castle from rides up to the castle and takes it without having to fight anyone. So, I cannot keep areas that I capture for the faction I belong to.
Is there a way to prevent this?

What matters is taking it, not keeping it. If you want, you can always defend it, or retake it many times for fun... and xps...

Muttley you need to put troops inside of the castle.

But only put troops in the castle AFTER the king awards it to you, never before. Otherwise you might lose those troops.

You need to stick around the castle and defend it until your king gets off his fat ass and figures out who to give it too. If this person is you, then you need to put in troops yourself. Otherwise, it'll automatically fill with troops once an AI lord gets control of it.

If you're in a situation where your king wouldnt give you a captured castle/town, you should be able to afford giving away a few troops.

"A few troops" is not enough. You need to put at least a hundred troops into a garrison to adequately defend it -- more like 150-200 if you really want it secure. I'm not giving away that many of my own troops, at least not good ones. Maybe I'll stick a few recruits in there just to slow down the autocalc, but that's all.

Everyone that has commented, you have helped lots.

I try to defend it, but first off I can only have 83 troops at a time, and my faction allies are "slow" when it comes to requesting help...

I am currently trying to take over another castle, but when I ask my allies to take it (so I can assist them) I do not have an option to tell them where to go. Does a war need to be declared first?

It would take not even three weeks to completely raise a well trained army of 100-150. That's not that long, only about 40 minutes in real life. That'd barely affect you in the grand scheme. It's definitely worth it, even if you do lose those troops.

Just tell them to follow you, and raise your renown and leadership a lot. You need a bigger army.

I do that when I am king of my own faction, but not when I am only a vassal and planning to rebel eventually anyway. In that case I would only be garrisoning the castles of my future enemies.

Focus on building up a strong personal army before you start taking castles. You need an army that can at least take on 3-5 enemy lords at once, especially if your allies are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Alright, so I will improve the size of my army.

However, another problem that I have time to time is "army size". Do my troops get annoyed having a small/large army? Never understood how that one worked.

It's more difficult to keep a larger army's morale high. You can get around this by having a high leadership score, having food variety (basically, have a bunch of different food items for your soldiers to eat), winning battles constantly, not sending men to cover your retreat, etc.

If you're talking about the thing in the party morale menu that says party size: -(some number here), that's just there to simulate how difficult it is to keep 200 men happy and disciplined compared to 20.

This is my current morale, what might I be doing wrong?

Your food variety sucks. Fill up your inventory with every different kind of food you can find, and keep it full. That will help a lot.
