Yeah, I'm coming back to Warband after ages e searching for a new mod to play. I used to play Floris and PoP alot. I thought Bannerpage was the ultimate quality of life option but the mod does seens limited in many regards, it's like a good skeleton but without the flesh. I'm trying to think wich one is the "killer mod" right now but there are so many options and it's pretty hard to choose one.
But what I liked the most was the ability to promote a common soldier to be your own companion/bodyguard.
Another Vanilla option but with more mechanics and not so easy, is Diplomacy 4 Litdum. The AI in Battle is better made. Enemy cavalry actually go around their way to flank your archers, things like that. The AI is really well made. But vanilla troops, which is something you probably wont like.
Prophecy of Pendor is indeed a good mod to come back if you dont want a vanilla experience. There is also that Lord of the Rings mod, which have plenty of different troops, quests, etc. But I couldnt play it since I am not into Lord of the Rings lore, but in case you are, I am sure you will love it.
In PoP there are some interesting challenges, like going two handed on foot your entire playtrough, making things quite harder and in the end, more interesting as well.
