[Nova Aetas] Bombs kill me?

I keep getting killed by my own bombs, despite me throwing them a distance away. Some reason I always get hit in the face even when its been chucked down a wall, down a mountain and whatnot.

Is there a way to limit the range of the weapon so that I won't get killed by myself everytime I chuck a bomb?
