Is it normal to be receiving assassination attempts?

you should really call the cops. its not normal at all.

Yep. It is part of the game but it happens rarely. It happens when you become enemies with certain lords (the bad personality ones, I think).

Luckily, Warband assassins are only as good as Belligerent Drunks.
If they were anywhere close to Scorpion Assassins in Pendor...I don't want to imagine it.

Well I am the king of about 40 Lords... 15/20 of them dislike me and around 10 straight up hate me....
Can't walk into a tavern to ransom some prisoners because there's always a 'hired assassin' in the corners....

Wow....I've got over 7k hours into the game and I've never seen assassins in the taverns.

Bribe everyone up to 1 or 2, then hold a feast.

Are you sure those 10 aren't pledging loyalty out of fear? Seems to me that if the situation is so bad that so many vassals hate you that much, there's a good reason behind that hate.

Hmmmm. Well I do control alot of land (I'm talking all of nord, veiger, 1/2 of swadia and khergits....).... But my stats arent half bad....47 honor, and 99 right to rule...I think 600+ reknown... And I've not been a ♥♥♥♥ to anyone, they just hate because of my fief-giving...
