1. Max fiefs? Idk. Never knew there was a max. I had always thought there was no maximum.
2. I am not sure what it is based on. Right to rule may also influence this.
3. Yes. Fiefs in better condition generate more income. I like to lump all my fiefs together and assign a vassal to defend that area. Villages net more gold than castles but castles allow you to store men inside of their walls allowing you to have "hidden armies." You can upgrade villages to have a Manor so you can rest inside your villages but still you cannot garrison forces there. A city is the best of both worlds and gives the most income.l
4. Quality vassals are very loyal to their original liege. Often times the only way to get them is to have maxed relations with them then beat their faction off the face of the map. They rarely defect unless they have no other options.
5. Armor shops do sell the exact armor you get from a tourney but it takes a while to find it. Once you get it you can stroll around town and get the armorer to improve its condition. Or you can progress in the story some and kill Orm for the best armor in the game. Other sandbox areas give out scales lorica. I forget where though.
3. The only problem with holding too many fiefs is that your tax inefficiency goes through the roof. Exactly how much, and whether it is capped, and how much do cities, castles and villages count is mod dependent... but in most mods, keeping only cities for yourself seems to be the best way to do things. Even when cities count for more than villages in tax inefficiency, they still bring disproportionately more cash.
4. It is very important to prepare your ascendancy. The аssноlеs are not worth bothering with, and the saints will love you if you are honorable, but will almost always remain loyal to their king. Thus, you must concentrate on the wise аssеs, namely cunning and martial lords. Quest for them, help them in battle, marry in their family with their consent, and rescue them from captivity. If you feel up to it, ruin their relationship with their liege. Then, when you declare yourself Emperor, convince them to switch to you. Do it right and you will flip more than half of some sides in a week. If you have not prepared, you can still use аssноlеs, just be aware that it is a lot of work to keep them happy for any period of time, and that once you start getting better lords, you probably want to let the аssноlеs bugger off.
5. It is random, but tournaments are far from the only way to get good armor. There is always shopping, if you have a manufacturing empire, or looting, if you have a high looting skill. In some mods, there are ways of getting tons of good to great gear. For example, in Viking Conquest, a successful raid on a Danish Loingphort can net you a number of heavy armors. Check this video. At the end, I got to loot four heavy and a dozen medium armors. Do not forget to upgrade them when you can afford it. It is best to do so in your hideout, because then you can siphon the fee back by taking advantage of the good prices.
