You might want to look for a Heavy Great Bardiche, which is a 2h weapon (and, therefore, capable of swinging from horseback)
I recently looted a hafted blade from a group of Khergit deserters, and I could definitely swing it. Amazing reach for crossing the T against other cavalry.
Yeah, that's 'cause it's a halberd. I mean, bardiches sort of are too, but they're on that interesction between polearms and two-handers. I'm pretty sure there's some weapons where you can switch what you use them as, like the Great Long Axe - it can be switched to a polearm to gain a blunt thrusting attack. This, however, also makes that attack the only one available when on horseback. As for bardiches, long ones are considered polearms because of their reach, and short ones are considered two-handers. You can't really use a Long Great Bardiche on horseback effectively.
2: If it gives you the option to use it with a shield, realize all your attacks with it will be thrust attacks until you rack your shield. (A hard learned lesson after a few battles)
I was completely wrong back here, but since this post was resurrected: You need specifically a hafted blade. I might be wrong, but maybe long hafted maces also work, i'm not sure
There are many two handed weapons which can be swung very effectively from horseback. The whole point of this thread, I thought, was that there ARE weapons that can be swung from horseback that use the polearm skill.
-------
It may be worth mentioning that the longer hafted blade has a 1.53m reach to the longest two handed sword's 1.30m. 23cm make a difference!
