How to one-click center the map on the very PC location?

That's what I miss the most, with a small quick-map.

Click on the compass in the corner.

I tried that but it depends, sometimes the game thinks you're clicking on the map underneath the compass, which makes your hero move towards that clik.
It seems if I carefully click on the border of the compass, the it's fine.
Well, not always...

Yes, going to any other screen - inventory, notes, character, etc. - will re-center the map in my experience.

Ill just hit esc twice when i want it centered, and its there instant. i never noticed but i always do that LOL, its like breathing for me, an reflex that comes natrually when i want it centered :D
