Where have all the moustaches gone?

Playing my most recent game, something kept bothering me. Something felt just not right.

Then I broke Count Ryis out of a Sarranid prison, and it struck me: He has no facial hair.

None of them do. Of all the lords, not a single one has any facial hair.
The only named people with any facial hair at all are rulers, claimants, and heroes.
So far as I recall, the Guild Masters too, are all completely clean shaven.

This seems... odd. Has this happened to anyone else? Is it possible to restore hirsuteness to the land?
No mods, no cheats, no tweaks. Pure native.

Taking another look around, there's a lot more baldness than there usually is as well, though it's apparently not as universal.

For some reason lords seem to randomly generate hair. I've seen Devlian with hair and mustache, without mustache, and bald. Their personality is also random, but I don't know if anything else about them is randomly generated. My only guess is that letting stuff be randomly generated saved the developers some trouble, and they figured players would only notice the most important people.

Nah, I'm pretty certain that the lords' hair is *supposed to be* pre-defined.
I just created a new character - the hairest mofo I could make - and checked all the lords' portraits; sure enough, they all had the same hair as in my first game, and was consistent with the screenshots in the wiki.

On the plus side, I only have to get the Khergit Khan deposed, and the nobility of the land will be purged of that "second monobrow" ridiculousness.

It could have been a bug of sorts. There are quite a few strange bugs hidden throughout the game.

I guess it could be a bug. I've just seen it enough times that I assumed it was normal.

It's a bug caused when you're creating your characters past, If you choose one of the options and get back the lords won't have facial hair. And arena master and first trader we meet also changes.
