Changing rank in lord's army in Freelancer/Floris.

Hi,
I just cannot find a way to demote myself in the lord's army so that I can change to another unit type.
I made the bad decision of choosing the Nord Archer route (come on, why call these guys Berserkers when they aren't even melee) and I'd like demote myself so that I can go down the Huskarl route.
Every time I ask different lords if I can change to another division, they say "Hurr durr we can't have people changing their minds so often."

The forums I read say that the only option left is to desert and this will restart my army career.
Is there any way else I can change my army rank?

I joined the Swadian army, then left, and rejoined the Nord army. My rank remained the same at the Nord Archer route.

Good mod, but this is just a real lack of foresight.

Never had the problem personally, but I don't change rank very often. Maybe try ranking up a bit then going back down. If that doesn't work just wait a little while. And if that doesn't work just pick the infantry line that branches off from the archer line. It is still good.
Also, as a side note the A, I, C and H beside a troop name stand for Archer, Infantry, Cavalry and Horse Archer with the number being the tier.

Well, I'm a A4 Nord Bogveigr and I cannot rank up anymore.
I actually want to rank down to I2 Nord Berserker or I1 Nord Bendi.

You could try joining a different lord of the same faction and see if that works? Sorry I'm not able to give a concrete answer but I'm basically just spitballing since I can't think of a time I've ever had the problem.
You could always join another faction or start a new game and then use ctrl+x to level yourself enough to where you want to be. I know neither are ideal solutions though.

This didn't work either.
In the end, I deserted from the lord and joined another lord of the same faction. This allowed me to restart the troop tree from Rank 1.

After I deserted and reached rank 4 under a different lord, he suddenly allows me to change division.
Not sure what was preventing them from letting me change division earlier.

At least you got it fixed in the end. Must have just been one of those unfortunate bugs.
