Report a translation problem
Some of the companions recruit soldiers of a type matching the castle you give them. Those are usually the foreigners: Lezalit, Marnid, Rolf, Nizar.
Four of the other companions seemed to have fixed troop types:
Matheld (Nords)
Katrin (Swadia)
Borcha (Khergits)
Artimenner (Swadian)
As for the rest, I consider it a waste to make them into lords. They work better as companions. I do know that Alayan and Klethi used to recruit Vaegirs, though.
Note that things may have changed since I made those notes. It was years ago.
