Would probably be easier and a better idea to just rebind the keys assigned to function keys. If you have a mouse with extra buttons you can even bind them to those. You can even do it from the base game menu before you load a save or start a game.

Do agree its annoying that unforeseen future of function key being merged with other functions has made it harder to play this game tactfully.

You gotta change the settings in your bios on your laptop. When you boot up the laptop you gotta press the button on the boot screen (the screen that usually is black with a few words or logo that lasts like 5 seconds) to open the BIOS. The button varies depending on your system, but usually it's f10, f2, f12. It will usually say press (x button) in the corner somewhere.

If you miss it, you gotta restart and try again.

Once you're in, you will be in a bunch of different menus and options for your laptop. Look around in here for an option for function keys or FN keys or something along those lines, and there should be two options, switch it to the other option.

What it does it makes it so the function keys like your laptop volume and brightness and stuff in your f keys require you hold fn key before pressing, but allows those keys to function normally for stuff like games.

So you will no longer have to hold FN key when using any video game that uses those buttons, but in order to use volume and stuff you hold FN instead.

Wait a second, normally pressing Fn is needed to activate options of F keys. Without pressing Fn your PC should be fine, unless you have a unique one (which is bad).

A lot of them the special functions are the base and you have to hold the function key to use them as normal F1 ect keys. Hence why I say adding to keyboard twister if you don't rebind them and running risk of activating the special function instead.

Yeah..no. the vast majority of laptops come with the FN keys on by default with the regular f keys requiring holding FN.

I've had 4 different laptops by 4 different makers that all required me to change the settings in bios. Either you were lucky or someone changed them for you.

Guess I'm lucky because F keys can be pressed on my laptop normally and it won't trigger special functions unless I press Fn. I thought it was an industry standard, logic told me.
