Should I have stayed an independent kingdom?
So I revolted from my king. I got away with 2 towns, 2 castles, and 1 village. Obviously the king immediately declared war, that's to be expected. Soon after another kingdom declared war. I sent out emissaries to the other kingdoms. All but one said they favored improving relations. One said they wanted to reclaim old lands or some ♥♥♥♥, but didn't declare war on me. So I was already at war with 2 kingdoms, and was probably looking at a third war soon.

The thing is I felt I was just too light on troops. I had 75-80 in each castle, and my towns had somewhere around 150, idk maybe a little less than that, and 100 or so in my party. In contrast when I ride by castles that aren't mine they usually have at least 150 troops, and towns usually have over 300 troops. I also was able to recruit 4 lords to be my vassals immediately. So they would be able to start to raise armies. Anyway, I just felt my forces were way too few to sustain a war on 2 (and maybe 3) fronts with the troops I had even with another 50 or so from each lord.

So I then sent an emissary to become vassal to another king, and he accepted. That way I could at least keep my 2 towns and 2 castles to bide my time while I continued to build up more and more troops for my armies. And then when I thought I was adequately defended I could just revolt again.

So my question is, do you think this was the right move, or should I have continued as an independent kingdom? Overall I did gain, because I revolted cause I was not awarded the second town I now hold. So I gained a town in the process since I got to keep both towns and both castles under the new king. My right to rule was around 55 and guides say you should have at least 50 to start a new kingdom. I had about 800 renown and 35 honor. So yeah, did I do the right thing for the long term, or should I just have stayed independent?

If you plan to revolt, it's highly recommended that you gather some good ammount of power, renown, fiefs, money, and good relationship with a good number of lords of all kingdoms.
This means: It takes a lot of time to build your own kingdom, depending on the difficulty you play and the way you play too.

I wouldn't say you shouldn't have done that, because Mount&Blade Warband is about that: Making your own history.
But i can say it might have been too soon to try your move. Maybe, i don't know ^^'

Yeah, but what I'm asking is not if I should have revolted in the first place. It's if I should have stayed independent, or become a vassal of another kingdom (which is the option I went with).

Basically I gave as much information above as I could on the state of things just after I revolted. Number of troops, number of vassals, number of wars, etc. I'm asking based on the information I gave is if I should have stayed independent, or was it a better move to become vassal to another king?
