I know I watched videos game is so cool, but I will try to get VR.
Though, there are some new games that have a good many "Warbandish" elements, but I think they're basically garbage... So, I didn't try to remember them. They're mostly games centering on the Far East with pretty crappy combat compared to Warband.
But, with this in mind, there are so very many Mods for Warband that maybe the OP should look there, first? Maybe change-up their Warband experience enough that it serves them well?
OP -
Do you want an "Action Roleplaying Game" like Warband where you swing your weapon and the like or are you more interested in a more standard "RPG" kind of experience where the "Action" bit doesn't matter as much? There are plenty of Squad-Level RPG games out there that could serve your needs if you don't require too much "Action."
Divinity: Original Sin has been compared to Warband in a number of respects, but it's Squad Based RPG more than like Warband's larger scale combat.
I require game like Warband. RPG game where you start with nothing and where you can build your armies, and take over cities and be a king.
You can either find RPG where you control your character or RTS where you control armies, but almost never both.
But if you want to be close, here is a list by order of relevance :
- Sid meier's pirates (lead your crew, pledge loyalty to one or several factions, help them conquer the carribean and such, naval battle, duels and sieges) / or Blood and gold Carribean ! (the russian/pirate version of Warband)
- Battle Brothers (Turn based strategy game with a sandbox aspect like warband)
- Knights of honour (Basically warband without the whole main character thing. You do the exactly same but only in a RTS perspective)
- Assassin's creed odyssey (main quests and an open world, help either the athenians or spartans take over the map)
- Overlord (quests, leading your minions, upgrade them ...)
- Rise and Fall civilisation at war (RTS where you can play a hero in your army in third person)
- Total War (warhammer/3K where you can "act" as the faction ruler, a big unit without bodyguards contrary to other total war games)
NB : I enjoyed ALL these games. They're all great, so even if it doesn't excatly match what you're looking for, you will still have fun :)
Cheers
Imagine if CK2 and M&B had a baby, oh my Lord what a game that would be!!!
Nah it's okay.
