For the money problem:
-Buy enterprises.
-Raid caravans only in war times (You will not lose honor).
-Only take towns or villages as fiefs. They will pay for itself.
-Fight in tournaments.
-Do guildmaster quests.
Honor 300 makes all honorable lords devoted. That's two out of seven personalities, and incidentally, two of the three personalities you absolutely want in your kingdom.
You can be a king without honor, but it's much harder. Being a king with very low honor is actually a pain.
