Whether it is worth it depends on how you use them. If they're a backup weapon, to be used occasionally, yes. If they're your primary way of doing damage, and most of your damage is coming from Power Throw and weapon proficiency, then you will get more from the extra projectiles.
Speaking for myself, I always end up with large stacks for ranged weapons, and balanced weapons for my melee weapons. But then, most of my characters use their ranged weapon as primary, and their sword is a sidearm - as swords, with a few exceptions, were through history.
Next time i see Balanced Throwing Daggers i'll be sure to get them.
I did a play-through as a lancer build so its lance, shield, side-arm, and either thrown or a second shield. Ultimately I kept a couple of different thrown weapons in inventory. I'd keep troops with some thrown weapons. In any given battle, I'd use whatever I was most likely to find laying around. I might have a balanced or heavy jarrids, but as long as there are jarrids on the ground, I could grab one here and there and add it to mine.
