It doesn't matter how many Lords have come.
The renown boosted after you've completed the quest.
Some Lords have their own thing to do some Lords don't like you......That's why noone comes.
*** If you want it to be MORE success, TIMING is the factor, organize it when your faction is not at war, or when your relationship with other Lords is higher.
During peace or inbetween campaigns is best time to try for it. Until then if you don't have anything better to do work on building up the goods needed to throw the feast.
