LOL I just came back to this game today, I was about to make a post asking everyone's option, seeing as their both the top range class in the game.

always go with the sarranid and vaegir archers because their rate of fire is better than rhodok crossbows. and when you get hit it stops you from reloading/firing. I think its the bloody rhodok seargents that make the rhodok crossbowmen look better in defence.

I think Rhodoks are much better at killing infantry and cavalry because of their higher damage, if they lose to other archer units it's because their reloads get interrupted by the higher rate of fire that archers have.

This isnt a very good demonstration of what is the better ranged unit.
ANY crossbowmen will struggle against ANY archer because they have to completely restart the reload every time they get shot.

Crossbowmen on the other hand have a lower fire rate and higher damage, so I go for them as they last a lot longer.

The only time I ever really use archers is nord vet archers early game because theyre cost effective as ♥♥♥♥ (like 15 or 16 denars a week for a top tier troop)
