Nah. Just get mods. They're free and better.

I like it but it always starts crashing after a save gets up there in days on me so i dont play it anymore. Its multiplayer was fun when it released but because its basically pve multiplayer it gets old after a while, you learn where to shield wall and grind the bots into pulp.

It's one of the ten best mods, but it is no more than that. I bought, played it a lot, and thoroughly enjoyed it. For me it was money well spend. But if price is a concern, you may want to stick to free mods, at least until Viking Conquest is on sale.

If you want to get an idea of how it plays, you could try the Brytenwalda mod. It's by the same guys, just set a bit earlier. If Brytenwalda rubs you the wrong way (weak bows, weak horses, a lot of mud slogging, and shield wall crashing) you will not enjoy Viking Conquest, either.

But if you want to experience large infantry battles, where tactics matter a lot, Viking Conquest is the way to go. It has a decent story, as well, which is rare for Warband.

It's not worth it. I have over 1000 hours in this game including steam and the launcher you could buy back in the day. It's honestly not terrible but it's buggy as ♥♥♥♥, oh and they don't listen to the community.

The review I wrote when it first came out is almost completely worthless now because they fixed up the game so much. I keep it up just for comedic value now.

This is one of the most maintained and updated video games I've ever played. The dev team moderates this forum (or did at one point) and has kept the trouble shooting threads pinned at the top the whole time. It's still active.

It was a glitched-out mess on release but I haven't seen too many problems in recent years. Far less than other games I love to play.

I'm a fan and I definitely think it's worth it at three times the going rate...that makes it a deal!

It's buggy AF. DOn't waste your money. The free mods actually get supported and are less buggy than the garbage the devs put out.

Viking Conquest, combined with the Balance mod, is as well supported and polished as any mod.

I enjoy it more than Warband since it's more balanced and far more realistic. The previous version was buggy but most of it has been fixed.

As an archer type player it's far more challenging and rewarding since most enemies use shields. There is no horse archery or 1-shotting shields with overpowered bows.

The stats and skills make much more sense, agility is worth getting, weapons mastery combines a few things, companion skills contribute more fairly, etc.

Sea combat is pretty good as well.

I don't use mods but it's similar to Brytenwalda. Mod options are just overwhelming.

Personally it's fun and a lot more difficult than regular Warband, especially at the start. But a shieldwall can really hold it's ground even against superior units but it's best to avoid much stronger units than what you have at your disposal, also training units takes more time than in Warband. If you don't want to pay the full price wait for a sale and get it as my personal opinion.
