Is it really a bug? Everything else in this mod works perfectly, much better than AD 1257 for example.
If you think that everything else works perfectly, I'm surprised you mind the bungled diplomacy.
This not always work properly and particularly some big events (like Wildling invasion) are probably buged as they never happened for me (in one game and older version I managed to play to some day 600..) and since some first version of mod it is not possible trigger them by particular quest. It can be also easily broken by player (eg you can take quest for make peace from town mayor)
Rest of factions tend to declare war and make peace permanently, not sure what is behind but its probably broken mechanic like lot of others in this mod. I would say it also changes in each version of mod. (and of course it has nothing common with GoT lore, it is just random)
I am not saying it is worst mod in the world but say everything works perfectly is probably hype by theme - combat and units are unbalanced to broken thanks heavily moded unbalanced gear stats, part of quests (otherwise great) can not be finished thanks various bugs, some submods are implemented without properly function (eg. half working party item pool), some castles can not be successfuly sieged because there is not any access point to castle or wrong placed sieging ramp, some cities has broken numbers (tournament win is 1:1), their economy stagnate in world and can be exploited or missing characters (inkeeper for turn quest..), immortal player clones running around as part of farmers group making neverending combat for lords fighting them, last version 6 is hardly playable at all thanks textures memory leak and fps issue (I know this something related to original game, but ACOK is not only mod with nice textures around, it is definitely only I played where I need restart the game each few battles on new PC...)
What is probably worst in this mod is that instead improve and fix things with each version it is just making things different - some features (that were good and working) are randomly without explanation removed, some added, plenty of new bugs.. And developer with god complex that never care for any feedback that is not praising him. It is shame as thematicaly it is still best GoT immersion around.
I always play this mod time to time and try to like it, I realy do - but there are simply better mods around. I am now waiting for new version of World of Ice and Fire as GoT theme - that started as very poor competitor to ACOK but is still improved while ACOK not exactly..
To be honest, I was glad that I found a mod that does not crash or does not have obvious visual or audio bug. That's why I said it was perfect... I'm not even a GoT fan, I actually pretty despise the show.
CoT never crashed, but 1257 AD and Perisno crash way too often and in the middle of a battle. In 1257, some castles (Jerusalem for example) are broken and my attacking soldiers ordered to HOLD make a line not on along the wall as ordered, but also outside and inside the castle. Pendor was superb, but I've already finished it.
Anyways, thanks both of you for response, it makes sense now. Scripting is truly broken, some items change value within days from few thousands to few hundreds coins and back. Uninstalling CoT and installing... Gekokujo maybe? Only playable and finishable mod was Pendor so far.
Gekokujo is indeed a very optimized mod. My Windows XP laptop from the early 2000s runs it just fine, at least with low resolution textures.
Another polished mod is La Guerre de Cent Ans, but I'm told the English translation is a bit wonky.
You may also want to try The Last Day. It's still being developed, so you may find a few problems, but it is somewhat optimized, and very well put together.
There are other mods I consider enjoyable, but polished they are NOT: Phantasy, Suvarnabhumi Mahayuth, Perisno, etc. If you try them, do yourself a favor, and minimize memory utilization.
The Last days of third Age mentioned is also great, particularly if you are for LOTR theme.
From other mods I played and found very good and without unfinished or buggy features - Gekokuju you mentioned, Prophesy of Pendor, Viking Conquest (its not free though).
I am now looking forward Nova Aeatas - I believe it has its own issues but definitely worthy of check.
