Most Sophisticated and Complex Mod?
Not difficulty-wise but content- and mechanics-wise. I like the idea of M&B but get bored by native pretty quick because of the monotous tasks and lack of immersive content.

I am specifically looking for a mod that adds the most new quality questlines, mechanics, diplomacy and companion options i. e. the "most complex mod" if there is one that deserves that title alone.

Currently I have these mods and DLCs in focus:

Prophesy of Pendor
My Pro: Alot of the MB guys play it and it seems to offer alot of opportunities, very polished.
My Con: on the other hand people often say it is close to the "Native" experience, which isn´t something I really want and from watching video gameplay this mod looks like it comes with alot of new mechanics right?

Perisno:
My pro: I don´t know much about it, people tell its bigger than POP
My con: People also tell its quantity over quality, also bigger must not be better when its just a bigger map or more factions if there are no new mechanics or gameplay features to bolster this grand scale.

Viking Conquest RE
My pro: Naval battles, singleplayer campaign which opens up into sandbox
My con: I know its different but it feels pretty like Native to me, the story of the campaign is hard to rate as I didn´t played much of it, but the beginning was not the best.

Third Age
My pro: it has the ring war
My con: I don´t know much about this mod and how well the mechanics play out and if there are new gameplay features

A Song of Ice and Fire, Star Wars mod
Pro, Con same as Third Age, I don´t know much about them

Thats it, if there is another important total conversion that I´ve missed let me know. I know I could try them all out and look what floats the boat but I think it rather difficult to tell without investing serious amounts of time into these mods.

I think MB vets should understand what I am looking for and I would appreciate if you share your opinion when it comes to my question.

Thanks

You said you'd rather steer away from Vanilla, in which case I would recommend Prophesy of Pendor. Probably my personal favorite, it adds a treasure trove of content, all highly polished and well balanced. Not just in terms of stats, but also how the player is able to progress through the content. Lots more to do for the player, from collecting special troops to overpowered gear, from fighting massive invasion armies to building relations and such in more ways than before.
It's been years since I played PoP, I imagine it's extremely stable right now.

Third Age, Song of Ice and Fire, Star Wars.. Fun stuff, for sure. Played them, but never able to stick to them for very long. They are definitely not the most "complex" mods, though they all do add extra mechanics and lots of content. None of them really felt properly polished, however. Not at a professional level such as with Persino and PoP, anyway. That said, It's also been many years since I tried any of these.

Viking Conquest is nice. Proper mod, professional, lots to do and much expanded gameplay. I'd say it's one of the simpler ones though, more for people that want a more vanilla like experience.

A special mention should go out to Warsword Conquest, possibly the largest mod, in terms of map size, races and troop trees, and as such items in-game. It does feel a little like quantity over quality, however it's a work in progress. It brings plenty of unique stuff to the table such as race specific armor, usable magic and more. However, it's not entirely stable, crashes may happen.

There are lots more but you already did your research and found the most applicable ones.

I guess its POP then, how you describe it is exactly what I am looking for. Thanks!

Mechanics wise?

Prophecy of Pendor can't hold a candle to the mods with functional battle magic (Phantasy and Warsword Conquest), total war, permanent death and destruction, etc. (The Last Days) chained quests (Perisno) and even some old, old, Mount&Blade Classic mods with a story, charrots in combat and races, usable catapults and awesome custom quests (The Wedding Dance).

Prophecy of Pendor has balance and polish. But mechanics? Even when it first came out, it was not on the cutting edge. The Wedding Dance, The Astorionar Adventure, Sword of Damocles - they all had it beat, easily.
