I want to learn how to block
im pretty bad with manual blocking with weapons and i want to learn and practice it. I tryed training it on bots in campaign without autoblock but it doesnt end up well. So if anyone would like to teach me a thing or two about blocks, add me, im online almost all the time

Honestly, in my experience, blocking just comes down to muscle memory once you've learned the appropriate block directions for each attack.

The simplest way of describing it is that you need to block in the direction the attack is coming from. If the attack is coming from your left, you block to the left, if its coming from above, you block up, and so on.

Keep playing sp without autoblock, or just mp in general and your reflexes and timings will improve. It will probably be a frustrating journey but if you stick with it, you will get better.

Best advice is to play mp. Prepare to die, but you will get better. Use a scimatar. Its almost better then having a shield.

Try the training grounds in towns. Loads of enemies, often 1 vs 1, and you won't lose anything when losing.

Seconding training grounds. Practice time and time again vs the veteran. Alter the difficulty in the option menu. Start at poor, work your way up to good. Try different combat speeds. You'll get the hang of it eventually. Try to aim for blocking successfully 10 times in a row without feeling stressed. You can also challenge yourself to beating him only with chambered strikes.

I think you mean the training field or whatsitcalled that native has. I meant the ones in towns, allthough that would also work (just not in VC, and prob many mods)

The arena is what you are talking about. Naked stick fighting

They're called training grounds in VC. Forgot that they're called something different in native, for whatever reason.

Better training, would be to use the Tutorial in Warband. Find a Veteran swordsman trainer and you can keep clicking Start Battle the second you die

I don't think a human can teach you blocking any more than a bot can.

A human can explain fighting tricks and explain the mechanics to you but for basic blocking it's mostly down to you.

Watch the animations. Try and block. When you're not fighting practice thinking of a block and then actually making it.

Once you can do that, practice switching from a horizontal block (left/right) to vertical (up/down) as those are the easiest ones to make mistakes when switching.

I used to spend a little time just trying to block a bot before I'd jump into a siege/tdm server and try fighting normally but with manual blocking.

I also tried duel servers but unless you only fight bots I wouldn't recommend that now.

You'll start to block some attacks intentionally and improve from there.
