Can you ever become King of Calradia as a vasal?

So, I'm a vasal to the sarranid sultanate and I started wondering if I can ever become first Sultan of the Sarranid Sultanate and then become King of Calradia or that option is only available when starting your own kingdom.

Is that possible? How hard is it to start your own kingdom?

You can only be a king of your own faction.

Thanks, do you know of any mod that allows you to become the king of an existing faction?

To any existing faction? No.

There are a few mods that give you a way to do it for some factions. Find a claimant of the opposite sex. Swear allegiance, start a rebellion, secure the throne. Marry the newly minted monarch, and become a co-ruler. Floris Expanded allows it, as well as quite a few mods that have Diplomacy baked in.
