to make sure you know how to herd:
approach the cattle by left-clicking them (like attacking bandits) and select the move option.
then you click behind them, herding them in the direction you want. small distances and use the space bar until they start to veer-off. then click so you walk behind them again, creating a line with where you are, where they are, and where you want them to go.
patience.
the one quest i cannot stand is when the marshal asks for them... the marshals move too fast for this quest to ever work (for me).
That it does.
"Alright, move this way a bit.. Oh no don't turn that way for ♥♥♥♥♥ sake."
Not really, it's a very simple mechanic - they always move away from you in the exact opposite direction. So if you want them to go left a tad, you move right a bit, and vice-versa. Doesn't even matter if you're moving towards them or away from them (so if you have a fast mounted force, just move towards them and then back away from them again, to keep herding them in the direction you want).
For the Marshal cattle quest, superb Tracking helps... :D
Still I dont like this quest type (even in mods where it just follow you) because it usually take loooong time (in case of city) or is costly (village). For Marshall - if you can just save and check which target he is gonna siege to plan accordingly. And as this one usualy follows exploration of nearby village it should be easy to track.
Wait, left click and select move? When I left click I just move.
Left-click on the cows (when the indicator pops up), then chose the option that gets the cows moving. After that, just click in the opposite direction of whatever direction you want them to go. For example, if you want them to go left, click to the right of the herd.
Oh, I see what you meant now. Yeah but it's tricky to get them to go right where I want them. Thanks man
No problem.
