become vessel, attack enemy castles/towns and ask for them to be rewarded to you.
keep doing this until Ragnar refuses to give it to you
Rebel when he denies you.
Congrats, you can call yourself a king.
But you won't be king for long as everyone will declare war on you.
If you want to have a chance to remain king you'll have to prepare yourself and that takes time.
- You want about 50 right to rule, more is better of course. You get this every time a war ends and for sending companions on missions to spread word about you wanting to be king.
- You want to work on your relations with other lords. Good way to do this is to not capture, but instead release enemy lords you fight while being Ragnar's vessel.
- You'll need an income.Buy factories in multiple towns spread out over the map. And it's best to control a town when you rebel because those generate the most income.
- It's also a good idea to start out on the edge of the map. Dhirim would be the worst choice to start your own faction at.
- Another tip is to wait for the right moment. Keep an eye on everyone's strength. Factions go into all out campaigns. It's best to try and rebel right after other factions had heavy losses. You can make this happen while you're a vessel for Ragnar. Initiate all out fights during wars that will result in massive losses on both sides. Drain everyone's armies of their elite units.
- Stock pile an army. It's possible that you control about 2 or 3 castles while you're a vessel. If you then attack a town last that will be likely denied to you, you take out all the defenses from the castles you already had to move to your new town to make your stand there. Give up the castles. This way you can have around 1k well trained troops in your town soon after you rebelled.
Good luck.
Btw I am myself not in fond of betrayal, so I usualy dont keep any fief. Anyway right now I took city form Sarraninds, created my empire in the process. Peace offer came day later from Sultan himself (its good to be honorable person with right friends, hehe). Now I have real beginning of my empire and can stockpile troops etc without direct threat or hard decisions taht directly piss someone later:-)
