(VC) Does the wreath of laurel prize actually do anything?

I've noticed that nothing seems to happen when you get "a wreath of laurel is placed on your head" as your bonus prize for winning a tournament in vc.
Is this just supposed to be the crap prize equal to a gold star sticker?

It's a Greco-Roman thing. If you retire your character, presumably he'll spend the rest of his days sitting on those things.

For your peace of mind, seeing that means "screw you, you get nothing today".
