Mercenaries also has a unique system, such that you can pre-make a set character that you can make to your own playstyle with a quite large pool of gear to choose from. Its very interesteing to create builds trying to find the one best for you. But the NA side is dead so unless you're EU you won't have much fun unless you like getting hit by ghost swings.
Napoleonic Wars has a very limited weapon variety, but has some pretty darn good fighting, its arguably more smooth than Native, in my opinion.
Viking Conquest is dead, don't bother.
Thats about it for multiplayer mods, as far as I know.
I just read that he was watching a lot of Native multiplayer lol
But it all comes down to that I sometimes just want to toy around in singleplayer and be the commander of the battle myself.
My favorite for combat though is Gekokujo. It takes a shift in fighting style to rely on mobilty and cover rather than shields for protection from missiles.
Viking Conquest DLC is good too and shifts fighting style focus in the opposite direction where shields become essential and thrown weapons are the main threat.
These three each have their own strengths and force you to fight in somewhat different ways to be be succesful. I especially like that the last two do not have super tough horses so you have to be careful to avoid getting dehorsed.
And I've just looked up Prophesy of Pendor and Gekokujo. They look... AWESOME!
As an answer to @[63e] Barristan, I have been looking towards Warsword Conquest, but never really played it. I could try, as it does seem like it has a lot of different things to offer.
Even better, it works with any Warband module, e.g. I use it with Prophesy of Pendor right now.
A Warhammer mod.
I like it that it melts magic and semi realistic MnB combat together.
It adds stuff like non-humans (Orks, Lizardmen) and also larger enemies (Big lizards, giants) which are quite challenging to fight in 1vs1 (As they are very tough and are able to smash you to pieces in one or two hits)
Then it also adds stuff like gunpowder weapons, which makes combat much more tactical as you can get gunned down instantly by well placed headshot.
Though it has some feature holes. And the larger non-humanoid enemies are very ugly to look at, low poly almost hilarious to look at. And the fact that they stumble when somebody throws a rock at them only supports the fact you will realise that they are just regular troops with larger model and ludicrous stats.
Also it tends to be well buggy: (Picture of a bugged siege battle)

Gekokujo and PoP are probably the two best ones I can think of.
After that Gekokujo for the side sweeping naginata polearms and guns and then POP.
Combat animations are mostly the same in all mods though.
