Warbands Question:
Im very new to this game, and Ive been running around killing/capturing bandits. I took a quest from a Count who asked me to destroy the Mountain Bandit Camp. I have 60 days.

I know where the mountain bandits hang out, Ive been killing/capturing them by the hundreds. Ive only got 10 days left, and I cannot figure out where the camp is? Ive tried talking to the captured bandits, talking to villagers in the region, nobles. I have scanned the area very closely and deliberately. Nothing. It seems Im missing some simple clue, and Im, uh, clueless.

Any help?

He should of mentioned a area to you, just keep running around to find it as its possible for it to spawn some distance away. Unlike normal parties you literally have to be right on top of it for it to spawn/be a lot closer.

Save scumming would probably help you in this scenario, if you run out of time just reload the save. Your new so can't really expect to find it first time.

Did not specify an area. I was assuming Mountain Bandit camp would be in the area of mountain bandits. It is also quite near the Counts town.

Good point. ;)

The bandit camp spawns are randomized, sometimes making them really irritating to find. There are couple tricks to help you with that:

1) Try following a group of mountain bandits that has "Patrolling" status (hover mouse over them). Keep tailing them from fair distance so that they don't start running away from you. Eventually they'll drop by their camp.

2) The bandit camps are located NEAREST to the town you've gotten the quest from. For example, if you got the quest from Praven's guildmaster, the camp definitely ain't near Suno or Uxhal (although it CAN spawn between Praven & Suno).

3) If all else fails, just make a hard save and start combing the area thorougly. Once you find the camp (doesn't matter if the quest expires), reload earlier save and beeline to the camp right away.

4) This goes for general gameplay, but I might as well mention it here: Get a good scout companion, one with 3 points (all you need) in Tracking and all the Pathfinding & Spotting you can muster. This raises your movement speed and your sight range, making it MUCH easier to locate bandit camps (and hostile groups).

I find the bandit camps before I take a quest to destroy one. I know from experience roughly where sea raiders, steppe bandits, and forest bandits will spawn, so I keep an eye out for their camps and only take a quest to wipe out a bandut camp if I already know where it is. I don't generally go after mountain bandits, taiga bandits and desert bandits because I usually don't wander around those parts of the map.

I also do not accept quests to wipe out a sea raider landing point because sea raiders are more valuable as grind fodder.

Go look near Etrosq castle.

There are a limited number of possible spawn points. If you destroy a bandit camp then it will respawn at one of the other spawn points for that type of bandit. It is impossible to get rid of them permanently as they continue to respawn. Mountain bandits have a couple of spawn points north of the mountains and one or two more in the middle of the mountains.

Got it. Plus Ive done another couple of bandit camps. I think Im getting the hang of it.

All good advice. Though after a few hundred hours in the game (and mods), some of these "search and destroy" quests still end up being uncompletable, with the targets never being found. Not too many, but enough that I've learned not to hang too much upon them, so that I don't mind so much if I fail it.
