At what year mount and blade warband takes place?
I know it says 1257, but it makes no sense why the kingdoms name is different no england, france, spain but there is swadia, rhodoks, nords etc. Is it the time of the vikings? When exactly it takes place in gergorian calendar?

It happens in 1257, but not on a historical Earth.

There was never a Calradia, and the equipment ranges from stuff which was obsolete in the 11th century to stuff that did not become possible to manufacturing until the 15th-16th. Furthermore, wargear from different epochs is somewhat balanced, which not would be the case in real life.

The Nords are Viking, around the 9th-10th century. The Vaegirs are Slavic people after their first contact with the Mongols, and probably after Volga Bulgaria, Kievan Rus, etc. were subjugated. The Swadians are a late feudal kingdom, in the mold of the Holy Roman Empire or France. The Rhodocks remind of the North Italian city-states and the Swiss pikemen, with equipment that will not be seen until early Renaissance.

Basically, the cultures are anachronistic, so there is no point is speculating about a date.

Warband is a fantasy set in the land of Calradia.

Viking Conquest is a separate DLC that made an effort to be "more historically accurate" and is set in North Western Europe (The British Isles and parts of the mainland bordering the North Sea)

I legit cringed at this question.

in addition to the anachronism of 15th-16th equipment, this isn't a gun to be seen.

In the 16th century, the crossbow was more or less made obsolete by the arquebuse, and the matchlock musket was already starting to get a foothold.

The Battle of Cerignola in 1503 is considered by many to be the point where firearms proved to be the new master of the battlefield... although that's not an universally held view. But by 1525, the writing was on the wall, and firearms had definitely replaced crossbows.

Please stick to the Bannerlord forums and stop brutalizing us with your knee-jerk apologetics. Crossbows are guns? Games take 10 years to develop? Jesus Christ.

Also how did you end up with the assumption that the rhodoks are zulus

i judge the rhodoks as zulus as from what little i saw sieging a castle. they love thier spears, even if they arnt short tore my army to shreds :/. German Vaegir was a thrown guess, i havent seen any real hints to guess what they are

again, most guesses. posted that when i made the topic. they were nowhere 100% Sure. read the whole message next time and not on you want to attack with. or see asumption and what you wanna see.

chances i dont reply to a post "they littlery have boyars boy" started, this is a good community, most of the people take questions and help out. but im not biting sorry.
