Is there a character/stats/save editor?

Hi, I'm looking for something which would let me edit stuff, I always felt it'd be cool if my companions could be stronger, hero-like warriors. Right now they're quite good, but far from a hero level.
Wouldn't mind some other tweaks, like editing certain soldier types as I don't like their equipment.

It'd be best if it worked with mods, as I barely play vanilla.

BTW, bonus question, maybe someone knows: if a companion is downed in battle, does his skills still apply (mostly thinking surgery and first aid here) ? It's silly that I have to keep my non-combat companions in the back, just to avoid them dying so they can heal the wounded after the battle.

Morghs editor is good for simple modding.
Also .txt modding
Also download the module system for proper modding
