How does addiction work?
title mostly. I have insane happiness (4.3-4.7 overall) but my addiction is sitting at around 0 to -1 and I cant figure out how to increase it. Can anyone explain how the mechanic works and how i can better maintain it?

That is exactly what I would like to know as well. I have max happiness on all 8 of my classes. -3 on addiction on all of them as well. Has anyone figured this out?

I assume it doesnt work because a feature may be missing to increase this

I watched the bar closely and it seems it increases every time the player kills a mob/gets loot/finishes a quest and decreases every time they die. So if you want to keep the bar topped, you have to tune the mobs in such a way that players have no trouble killing them.
Perhaps offset it with soul crushing grind.

3 of my classes have 0 addiction and they are the most addicting I've had. The others are all -2 / -3.

i thought the - in front of the number is misleading and if the number is higher they play more Because they get addicted to it

The dev has stated on the official forums that he'll never fully go into detail about the formulas dictating addictivity, but that it's based on his college background in psychology. He gave a vague hint that addiction goes down when *only* good or *only* bad experiences occur and up when they experience both good and bad (e.g. I assume this means vary up scenery so some is nice, some not so much; make some quests/monsters in a zone easy and some hard, etc.), and also said that players will only *have a chance* to unsub if happiness+addiction < 0.

In other words, keeping players addicted will prevent them from unsubbing due to unhappiness, and vice versa; so keep them happy, and they won't unsub from not being addicted.
