Lost my souls even though only died once?

I died once and i went to the exact spot of my death, yet my souls werent there?Is this a bug or is the retrieving souls mechanic works different in this game compared to dark souls?

The tutorial stage (prison) doesn't have the dropped souls mechanic. That will come into play once the game actually starts and you have picked a guardian spirit.

Your guardian spririt will stay behind at the place you died and protect your souls.

Souls = Amrita but we all know what's being discussed :)

Well, the game had actually begun though.I ve completed the tutorial area in London.This happened near the ship map where everything is on fire in the village.

What i described is how death n souls work in Nioh (pretty much like Dark Souls).

Your souls will have your guardian spirit hanging around them but otherwise look like all those red piles you've likely seen of other players who died. Depending on your chosen guardian they might blend in a bit with the environment. Search the area more is all i can say.

If they really did vanish then it's a bug.

searched everywhere, i died on the beach by the ship on the first mission. i have played alot of souls games so i am familiar with the mechanic. i am using the fire one so it's pretty visible.

Yeah, it is a bug.Also, i just noticed despite equiping my elixers i dont see them in the shortcut slot nor can i use them.The port is buggy as hell atm.

There are 2 item shortcut screens. Press RT to cycle between them, you probably flipped to the empty one by accident.

When you died did you call back your Gaurdian Spirit at a Shrine? If you call back your Gaurdian Spirit from a Shrine you lose your Amrita.

this is different from dark souls!

if you die while your guardian spirit is lying around, you lose your past AND your current souls but you get the guardian spirit back.

Well i died, then spawned at the shrine, went to collect my souls at the spot where i died, they were vanished.It only happened once though.
