The Banner Saga 3
Not getting items
All the guides say I should be winning items when I beat all enemies in a battle, as in I go all the way to the end. But I dont get any. Is this a bug?

You only get an item at the end of a wave battle.
For the item wearing wave-boss to appear, you need to always finish the waves early and continue fighting after reinforcement phase.

Is that what you did ?
I can't remember i there is an item for every single wave battle but that should be the case for most.

Ah thank you. So i have not been finishing before X turn reinforcements, but I just figured that was only a guideline. Well, now Im pissed. The whole sytem is flawed then, as you dont get to reinforce yourself if you are late, but they do. Meh, im playing on hard and its still not a challenge, so I guess ill just consider what Im doing as extra hard mode.

Yes, but they do less too: they will lack a few "pumped" enemies.

so then why dont the reinforcements come and then once ive defeated them the next wave? IT makes no sense.

The wave system is designed to punish you for taking too long, and reward you for winning quickly. It's quite clever that they manage to do both with the same idea of "more enemies are coming".

It particularly punishes the previously dominant strategy of leaving enemies alive at a sliver of health to pad out their initiative queue. You can't afford those extra turns spent mopping up.

Its not a punishment if you arent hurt by the so called reinforcements. The only punishment is witholding a nice item that makes no sense in doing so, espeically if you defeat all the enemies, you want more, but they dont give it. Its a heavily flawed system and its broken.

Yes, you are punished by not getting the item. You took too long and the reward is forfeit. That's the point.

Having time as a factor to win a phased battle is silly and counterintuitive. Why have enemy reinforcements at all? Why not just be able to swap out as many men as I want when I want and the enemy can do the same? We fight until all our units are dead. That would make more sense than having a silly punishment for killing everyone, just not 'quickly like they want me too'

Bah, arguing here is as silly as the reinfrocement waves system in this game.

Are you serious?

It's a mechanic. There is a timer. It's explained. What's the problem?

You could fight OR flee.
If you fight, you could perform WELL and clean the board in time or NOT.

At that point you could rearrange and reposition if you performed well, or not if you performed bad, and don't get the item.

It's a challenge. What are you talking about? It's exactly "WELL, PUT TIME IN THE EQUATION" to force you playing more aggressively.

Personally, i would have also implemented a "60 second turn duration - mode", just to make you feel the pressure, like in Survival mode, but THIS is a matter of taste.

Err its NEVER explained. If i must repeat myself, here i go. Iss never explained that if you dont kill everyone BEFORE the 40 odd turn thing ends then u get no item. Even though you have to kill more enemies with the same group.

So its not a challenge, its just badly thought out.
