1. Alette + Monster Hunter - for obvious reasons :). At the last Bolverk battle, I got Alette to 50 strength (without using Umbrage). She is a one women killing machine.
2. Kivi + Bloodletter – I think that Bloodletter is great with Kindle (and Drumfire too) skill as you make several enemies bleed at once. Bloodletter would also be good for iver/Ubin with their Tempest but Kivi has two area attacks, so he wins :).
3. Egil + The Granite One – Why Egil? Cause Guts talent makes a great combo with Overwatch. And Egil is a nice stone wall otherwise.
4. Iver + Foolish – Cause ruining into the middle of your enemies to Tempest them is fun and Foolish makes it even more profitable.
5. Apostate + The Wolf (could be The Wanderer but Wolf has the added benefit of lessened aggro) – purely because I really hate Apostates limited movement and that makes him more mobile, so he can back away or come and smash somebody if he is not Rapturing or Umbraging.
6. Eyvind + Whisper – makes Eyvind much less noticeable and allows him to move better around the battlefield if you see a good opportunity for some lightning strike.
In later runs I figured that Iver could be exchanged with Ubin (still with The Foolish) as their stats are similar and Ubins passive buff to strength is nice. Also his Reveal Weakness ability comes in handy sometimes to beat down a foe.
And yeah, none of the lovers pairs work for the achievement at the moment. Completelly bugged.
I think that Bloodletter, as I mentioned above, is much more effective on a character with area attack. I also do not think much of Oddleif in survival mode. Yeah, her Rain of arrows can be situationally useful, I don't deny that, but it can also be a complete waste of turn. Slug 'n Burn comes in more handy really. And Oddleif's pityful strength does not make her a great damage dealer - may be a fair enough breaker if given a proper item. But I would exchange her for Canary any day - Canary's strength caps at 16, so she hits like a Varl :), she has Pin skill for slowing enemies and Poison Tip for getting those pesky, high-armored guys down. And her base break skill is 4. Give her Monster Killer (if you don't have Alette with you), Unmoved for some more versatile bonuses or Death's Messenger (and sent her to hunt the big guys while hidding under Kivi's skirts ;) or behind Ubin for the strength buff).
I think that Twice-Born is just a waste. Is it working out well for you? In my experience, it's better to make Eyvind less noticible with stuff that lowers his aggro and more lucky with Dodge/Divert etc. talents combined with defensive item.
Would not put Forsaken on Rook. And my reason here is - Mark prey. It's a great, albeit situational, skill. But to use it effectively, Rook has to be close to the action (which will often meen adjactent to allies). However, if you use your Rook purely for his range and Rally, Foresaken is not a bad choice at all. Wolf is a nice choice for him.
I consider Unbent a good choice for any tanky character. Although personally I prefer the Mountain - a bit of defence and additional punch. Yet I think this is purely question of personal preference.
But hey, this is all just one woman's opinion and. I will gladly see what others think :)
Reserve Squad; Krumr, Bastion, Griss
I usually pick the titles that give simple str/arm bonus, or movement. Canary with range increasing item is a destroyer. I don't like using Alette. I never liked totems that shoot arrows in games lol
Wait... Does Death's Messenger apply to the damage per round effect on poison tipped?
Yes it does! Isn't that just beautiful :)?
Definitely not fire and forget like a good ol' Bloodletter Canary.
'Shame... I was hoping for something to use that was similar to that for my hard mode run, but I reserved Bloodletter for someone else.
Just finished my first Survival Mode run and I wanted to give you a quick feedback. I borrowed some pages from your playbook, thanks!
Did not like Ubin too much. First, he does not have the passive ability "Heavy Impact", second his active ability "Reveal Weakness" is not as strong as I hoped it would be. The attacks of his allies come out pretty weak, so I stopped using it pretty soon. So I would definitely recommend Iver or Canary in his place (I'm gonna use Canary for my second run for getting the Krumr-Achievement).
For Kivi I did not like "Drumfire". It simply just did not work at all for me, no clue why. When I used it to hit some enemies, it barely made any damage at all. Do the enemies have to stand in the shockwave for an extra round? Well, I was using only "Kindle" after a while and loved it (with Blodletter).
The rest of your suggestions I followed and really enjoyed - thanks a lot!
As for Drumfire, it does indeed not even come close to awesomeness of Kindle. It's extremely situational and only useful if you have several non-dredge enemies clustered in front of Kivi. Its damage is pitiful and I would not even consider it a damaging attack - rather an annoy your non-dredge enemies and make them move around attack ;). But it does apply Bloodletter to everybody hurt in the initial cast - it wasn't doing that for you?
I'm stupid, tried it on Dregde ...
