Good place to store weapons and gear?
I know of the elevator trick and the cargo hall, but is there anywhere in particular that's good to put stuff that you go back and forth through a lot? I just got the railgun and ion rifle, and I left my SMG in the Maintenance>Executive elevator

Don't store them inside elevators, they might clip through. I just store them outside on the ground. Works fine and they won't disappear.

The central room in maintenance with the big elevator and a recycler. There are 4 boxes there and the level can be reached easily.

Maintenance has convenient connections to all of the early-game stages up until Executive; The boxes near the large cargo elevator, that's where I store my guns and ammo.

I have a stash place in Maintenance, next to the freight elevator. It has 4 boxes to store small loose items like ammo and stimpacks, and recycling station. There is a power pylon across the hallway, and 3 elevators all within 20 meters of each other.
I have been using this exact same spot even in the original SS. Its a central location, and you have to go through maintenance A LOT in the first 2/3 of the game.

Edit: Wow, so many people using the same spot. :D

Yeah this.

Is Maintenance chiller in the remake?

In the original it was ambush hell and all you wanted to do there was get across the hallway as quickly as possible to whatever elevator you needed. Not exactly ideal for storage despite it's central location.

Its dead quiet in the remake. I don't think I had a single respawn on maintenance, even before I brought the security to 0%.

A shame. The game gained a lot of character from having this insane horrorshow straight in the middle of the station that you had to go by from time to time, but one you could also bypass quickly as needed.

I play on combat 3 invisible mutant can respawn but it is very rare I likely had less than 5 respawns

In OG inital number was likely the same but they respawned super fast and I played that on combat 2.

So once you kill the inital spawns it is mostly quite and safe.

I had a few respawns in maintenance after the final visit to the reactor, but at that point they didn't pose much of a threat. Besides, I wasn't planning to hang around much longer anyway.

Wait... so Shodan doesn't park a literal army on Maintanence after the final reactor visit anymore?

Never played the original far enough to get there, I think I had líke 5 invisible mutant respawns during the time I spent exploring Maintenance so far. It's not unmanageable but did keep me on my toes.

I obviously had some holdover trauma from OG sshock, so I was using Storage for a while, but Maintenance is indeed chiller.

The respawns are now limited, even on 3 combat.
