Way later on, I think even this feature gets taken away, so dying actually matters. However, that's really close to the end.
Combat on hard is pretty good for forcing you to make smarter choices. It's definitely what you want to be on if you're looking for a challenge.

Yes, then they restart on hard and 4 days later we get another topic about how insane hard the game is in later stages. I play on 2 for everything and it´s getting descent challenging now that i am deeper into the station and story.
If you don't happen to find the laser rapier early, those alpha strain enemies can be quite the bullet sponge and are a little bit of a rude awakening. To be fair, a surplus of gas grenades will make short work of them, but I don't know if many people take that route. And honestly, a lot of the reactor enemies can be blitzed with that laser rapier as well.
