Enemy Respawns?
Is there any solid idea on how enemies will be handled when it comes to respawns?
Say I clear an area, cave heads in. Will these enemies respawn?

I ask cause I liken this game abit to Prey, I enjoyed that up until all my time and effort was thrown away when enemies constantly respawned.

The enemies in Prey would be replaced by different amounts of new ones as the game progressed. You could even encounter tougher end-game-ish enemies where your office is.

Keeps the game exciting for longer, gives you a chance to actually use all those upgrades you've gotten.

Does make sense.
Don't suppose you know how System Shock will operate in regards to this question?

Hopefully the enemies won't respawn randomly, which results in useless and pointless killing of enemies.

In System Shock 1, certain enemies would respawn in specific locations if the total enemy count on the level dropped too low, depending on the chosen combat difficulty level.

RN the alpha (and the previous ones too) respawn enemies after a while on the opposite side of the player or once a certain amount of enemies are killed. example if you do the laser bridge way to the elevator and then go back to the start point theres a big chance that a lot of new mutants spawned on neurosurgery.

Speaking of such i catched a respawn glitch in wich entering any room in the main Gamma lobby after killing a lot of mutants before on Medical will result on an instant spawn of around 6 mutants and cyborgs immediatly after leaving any of the two rooms available on Gamma

I feel like it's not just timed, at least not on the default 2 combat difficulty (in this game anyway; it sure felt timed in the original). By the time I kill all the security and get the magnum, I'm pretty sure everything's dead. I sweep through the level and there's nothing left to shoot. Although the way some of the cyborgs and mutants flop around makes it look they're just pretending -- one of the cyborgs was standing up and then immediately fell over when I saw it.

But I'm pretty sure the first time you get to the cyberspace jack spawns a mutant mob in the hall outside, and either the bridge area or something off on the east side triggers a second mob in the same area.

Upon playing the demo over again (I did not finish it last time) I have noticed this game sure loves to have a bunch of enemies in rooms you've cleared less the 5 minutes ago.
Really disappointing.

In Prey, respawns only happened when you changed levels (and at a few story points), so that you had to plan your progression in a clever way (try to visit an area where you have multiple objectives). I liked that.

In this demo, many people report that respawns seem to be bugged and extreme (dozens of enemies constantly respawning in certain rooms - I think that's not intented). It also depends on the difficulty - I chose easy combat difficulty and with that, respawns seem to be more limited and handled well. Don't know about the higher difficulties, though.

In that case I will hold judgement until day1 reviews. I dont mind afew enemies after key events but to constantly be walking around in areas i've cleared to turn a corner and come face to face with a whole pack of hostiles who have no business being there does rub me the wrong way.

AFAIR here was spawning triggered by certain events (like pushing a certain button or opening a paeticular door) instead of classic re-spawning after a set time etc. In the original.
Seems to be the same here, too.

The enemies do respawn, but in the entire demo, i only saw 2 or 3 respawn. It has been massively toned now. Not like you run into groups of 5-10 respawning constantly. I remember in the earlier demo, i would literally run out of ammo in no time, just fighing respawns, then be stuck with the pipe.

Maybe its just me, and maybe it would be changing it too much from the original, but i find it would be neat that the lower the security the less ability of respawns. As in the floor becomes safe.

I came out of a lift and got swarmed by four humanoid mutants who backed me into a corner and killed my ass in seconds :steamsad:

Of course enemies respawn, You have a super complex AI trying to kill so of course it would reinforce areas to catch you off guard and try and kill you.

With finite ammo and resources. The enemies should also be finite and not continuously respawn. Just saying...

Health and energy are infinite with stations around, though, and eventually death doesn't matter, either. I feel like in the original game mutants dropped more darts (and medipatches), but you'd still run out if you didn't switch to the Sparq beam or a melee weapon now and then.
