The Roguelike Update

Our biggest update since launch is here, and it's free for everyone who owns Fishing Inc! Massive thanks for all the support, reviews, and bug reports - we're still blown away by how many people are playing and enjoying the game <3 A lot of you have been asking for more content, so we've built a brand new Roguelike Mode on the side of the main game. With this update we're also releasing a little cosmetic Supporter Pack.

Roguelike Mode is a new additional mode. Each run is a fresh start where you pick an upgrade each level up and try to beat Day 7, or push into Endless mode. It's available right now from the main menu. Since it's experimental, we'd love your feedback and a massive thank you to everyone who played the beta on Discord <3

The Supporter Pack is a small cosmetic DLC, 18 unique hats that the animals have a chance to spawn wearing. Purely cosmetic, no gameplay changes. Every purchase directly supports the two of us, so if you've enjoyed the game and want to help us keep going, this is the best way!

Radar Issue and Resolution Issue

I remember using the radar on the starter pond when I first started and then kind of forgot about it. I realized I have been upgrading it, and I don't actually have it anymore. Is there some sort of hotkey I need to hit to turn it back on? What am I missing? I've also noticed that the resolution doesn't seem to be properly formatted. I'm using a 3440x1440 monitor, and I've set my resolution to that. But the top of the game seems to be cut out whenever I catch a fish. I can provided a screenshot. Both not...

Bugged achievements?

Have been right through the game, not sure if i'm just stupid and impatient, but i have caught every fish in the game (except for the Kraken), including the legends for all, but none of the fish achievements will pop. The in-game achievement for catching all the legendaries will not pop. Again, i might be stupid, but i keep having poor luck with the kraken, i feel like half an hour of attempts is too much, and i'm thinking my luck boost is blocked by the broken achievement. Any advice would be most welcom...

Radar accuracy

Am I reading the radar completely wrong or is the radar just placebo? I've caught 16 fish in a row that weren't the fish at the top of the list with +++. All 3 other fish either have ~ or -- next to them, and they are all I've caught. 16 times in a row. 16....

Unplayable resolution

Hi ! I have the game resolution set to 3440x1440 and the game is so "zoomed-in" that it's unplayable. See screenshot on snipboard.io: https://snipboard.io/tui1mk.jpg Tried to switch to borderless, fullscreen and windowed, nothing helps. Please help :(

its painfully straightforward. its the same gameplay loop from start to the end. nothing really shakes up the game, not even the final steps of the game. the rougelike mode is nice though.
if you want a mindless timesink incremential game to play for a bit then go ahead, this is relatively cheap for the time, if you get it on sale. otherwise, plenty of better games to play.

The main game is short and addicting "space" "space".

The roguelike mode seems fun and interesting.
You would probably enjoy it more than the main game.

I really wanted to like this one; it's exactly the type of game I reach for when I want to relax. Unfortunately, the grind gets in the way of that. The gap between upgrades feels too long, and the core fishing minigame just isn't satisfying, even once you're autocatching multiple fish at a time. I expected that milestone to feel like a payoff, but it still fell flat and started to feel more like a chore than a relaxing loop.

On the plus side, the graphics are perfectly fine, and it's clear there's been real effort put into the game. The music didn't work for me personally, and I turned it off pretty quickly, but that's a minor, subjective point next to the pacing and gameplay issues.

Overall, this just wasn't the relaxing catch-and-upgrade loop I was hoping for. Can't recommend it in its current state, but I'd be open to revisiting if the progression pacing gets reworked.

One month of Fishing Inc! Massive thanks for all the support, reviews, and bug reports. We are still blown away by how many people are playing and enjoying the game <3 This patch focuses on quality of life improvements and bug fixes. For people asking about new content, it's in development and we'll have more to share on that soon :)

UI & Visuals

-> Price Formatting: Replaced scientific notation in some prices with proper currency formatting

-> Rarity Display in Map Selection: You can now see which rarities you've caught for each zone straight from the zones screen.

-> Fish Tracker Accuracy: Tweaked the fish tracker to show more accurate values

-> Fish Tracker Symbols: Removed the "~" neutral symbol as it looked too similar to "-"

Accessibility

-> Spinning Background Toggle: Added a setting where the user can disable the spinning background when a new fish is discovered

Bug Fixes

-> Map Notifications: Fixed a bug where the notification wouldn't disappear on the zone screen if the user didn't have enough money

-> Fast Click Registration: Fixed an issue where clicks would not register properly when a user clicked really fast
-> Achievement Unlocks: Fixed an issue where some Steam and in game achievements were blocked behind the Kraken They can now be unlocked before finishing the main game
