Assassin's Creed Brotherhood stuck in windowed mode
Dear all,

I'm having a pretty bothering issue when playing the game. I especially bought the game to be able to play a decent AC game instead of the bugged AC Unity they're selling now...
I'm experiencing these problems also with AC2, so its a general flaw with AC on that engine i presume.

First of all, Uplay launcher kept on crashing, i got this problem fixed, and answered in a few topics how I went about accomplishing that.
Second, when Uplay Launcher did start, the game wouldn't start. I also fixed that, and I did answer in a few topics how to circumvent the issue.
But the problem I'm having now is that the game keeps on running in windowed mode, I've looked elaborately for a solution on the web, but up untill now, nothing has worked... And most of the topics you find out there, is about how to play it in windowed mode and not the other way around like I'm experiencing.

What i've tried so far (and did NOT work):
- Alt + Enter during the game just doesn't work for me, it doesn't recognize that I'm in windowed mode and keeps thinking I'm just pressing Enter...
- In the .ini file, were your preferences for settings are kept, I added "Fullscreen=1" in the file, but this also doesn't work like it's supposed to work.
- Running both .exe files (ACBSP.exe and the other one) as administrator and in compatibility mode, did not fix the issue. I thought this would fix it, because when i was running it in windows 7 I did not had the problem with AC2
- Shift + Tab during the game, then Alt + Tab, then jumping back to the game doesn't work either...

Has anyone else had these same problems? I'm getting pretty desperate at this point and I really hate playing the game in windowed mode.

System: Windows 8.1, i7 4770, R9 290, all the latest drivers and so on installed

Well... yeah, nobody. The rest of us have been trying to figure out how to do what you've done. None of us have figured out to play in a window without using insane programs. So, we all can't tell you how to undo what we don't how to do in the first place.

Seriously, though, how did you get it into windowed mode? Are you using 3D Ripper DX?

Hey, VR6C; I know this is a little after the fact, but I'm experiencing the same exact conditions with AC2 and ACB. All the forums are struggling to get into windowed mode with these games, and I just want to get out! I really hope there's somebody out there that can figure this out. I have one possible fix, but I don't know if it works across the board: for AMD cards I use Radeon Pro and set up a profile for AC2. Then I right-click and set "Disable API Monitoring" (w/o the "). I have no clue about Nvidia users.

Hi jwmore1713,
I finished ACB in the mean time, but thanks for the answer anyway. I have a Radeon graphics card, so if the problem ever occurs again, or when I feel like playing AC2 or ACB I'm sure to give it a try. The problem lies with the "upgrade" from W7 to W8.1 I think, so if that's the work-around needed to make it work, you made a ton of people happy ^^
