Remapping controller buttons?
I've got a Logitech F310 which a friend gave me a while back. In AC 1 and 2 it was fine but with Brotherhood it seems to not let me remap the buttons at all (they're greyed out).

I'm happy to get a new controller but wanted to check to be sure an xbox controller lets you remap? It'd be a hassle if I bought one and still couldn't do it. I've played the first two games with high-profile set to the left shoulder, so it's just too weird having it as right trigger which is what this game wants me to do.

@ RPC263 Are you playing on Windows or Mac? I tried to connect my xbox 360 controller on my mac to play AC Brotherhood but it didnt work. Any suggestion?

Remapping means changing the button configuration. I want to change some of the buttons like high profile, as I'm stuck with it as right-trigger at the moment.

I use a Logitech F710, which has an xbox mode, but I can't comment on the settings as I don't use it in that mode for this game (something to do with not having the mappings I want, as I recall, funnily enough) I guess you can't change in game. F710 in digital mode is set out exactly as I like it, like the others. However, if you want to try messing around you could try looking at either both or one of two files:

"X:\Assassin's Creed Brotherhood\DefaultBindings.map"
"X:\Assassin's Creed Brotherhood\multi\DefaultBindings.map"

where X is your game installation drive.

Or where you have the game installed if you have it installed with steam. Open either file in notepad, perhaps swapping things around might work. I don't know if these are the right files, but I can't see any others that it could be.

EDIT:

I've just gone to check, after checking out the specs for your controller to see that you also can swap between digital and xbox mode. If I set my controller to xbox mode I cannot remap the keys either; they are also greyed out. So if you set your controller to digital mode you should be able to map the keys as you want without having to fiddle around with files.

Oh man, I hadn't even taken notice of that switch before now. In 'D' mode it does indeed let you change the button config. Only thing is that the on-screen button prompts in game now refer to 'button 1' or 'button 2' instead of A, X etc which shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Thanks so much for the response! Ezio rides again.

Yeah, that's a downer. When I first played I'd get prompts (really bothered me with multiplayer), and I'd be thinking "Yeah, what the ♥♥♥♥ is button 1, 2, or 3 etc." and promptly die. Over and over. :D It's also annoying because with some games they correctly identify button 1 as button 1, others identify from button 0, so when a game says Press button 5 NOW! I enter a panic of 'what is number 5 to you?' and promptly die. Over and over, again. ...

Good luck.

I know this is an old thread but I'm having the same issue with remapping but when I switch to digital mode, the controller stops working and the option to use it disappears from my customize controls window. Anyone know why it would work in one mode but not the other?
