Are any of you good at not being detected? I really suck at being hidden a lot of the times, especially in an open wide area where guards can see and detect you from range. Any tips and tricks you can assist me with, that I may be able to finally learn how to play better? Thanks.

You've already aware that in the middle of nearby crowds your colours tend to turn grey thus meaning that you're somewhat cloacked from guards. Except, if they come proding the said crowd you should fine as long as you don't draw too much attention towards you.

I looked at a video on a mission and it seems that most people when they're escorting a NPC, they tell them to hold and then use their assassin's they've recruited to take down the enemy that's in their way.

Maybe the reason I suck is because I don't play many Stealth games and I'm too used to throwing myself at them.

The most important thing is don't run! When you see the detection bar starts to fill, slowly walk away from the guards, DON'T EVER RUN! When running the detection bar fills much much faster. If you simply walk away, it takes about 30-60 seconds for the bar to go from black to yellow then finally to red, which is more than enough time to break the line of sight and reset the detection bar. You are only screwed if the guards see you when you are too close to them (which makes the bar fill faster).

Beyond that, it's important to plan ahead, restart a few times to learn the guards patrol route in each mission, and understand what route(s) you could take that could avoid detection.

Silence weapons like the crossbow, throwing knives and poison darts also allow you to remove guards that are hard to avoid and are in your way, from a distance. Of course you could also summon your assassin recruits, but that would be usually too easy...

If you want to pursue 100% sync, it might be useful to manually back up your savegame. So if and when you are detected and fail the 100% sync requirement, you can just quit the game, copy the save back and restart from that checkpoint immediately instead of having to replay the whole mission.

If they don't see you, run to a crowd and walk slowly and if there is a hiding spot run as fast as possible to it because this will likely cause a guard to check out the hay or where ever you are allowing you to quickly assassinate them. Hope this helps

kill them before they get a chance. Use the poison darts and you can pick off groups of guards even if they are grouped up. Crossbow kills instantly but is slightly less stealthy

The only way I've ever played any AC game is with HUD off, 100% Sync ;) Haha! So yeah, it is definitely possible. I've become somewhat of a Master Assassin myself, tbh, and I don't need to rely on detection meters, health bars, etc.. :) I tend to do yearly 100% completion marathons of the entire franchise, just like I'm doing now. Tbh, this time around, I'm nearly done with AC: Brotherhood and I only had to re-do 3 or 4 missions to get that optional 100% sync objective. Other than that, once your get used to the mechanics through practice, it's super easy.

Remember, guards are sensitive to running. Walk when you need to sneak past them or quietly assassinate from behind. The crossbow / gunmen on roofs are best dispatched with the crossbow, one-shot kill. Poison darts for creating chaos and drawing attention to a specific area. And make sure to use distractions such as thieves, courtesans, etc.. during missions where it might be necessary to be fully stealthy. A minimum of 4 people are required in a crowd for you to blend in with and become virtually invisible. And, Assassin Recruits all day long.. make sure to send them away on missions and level them up, they're amazing. I could offer more tips.. depends what you need :)

Don't sprint. Never sprint. Make sure you are breaking the line of sight before you start sprinting.

There are 4 types of movement in AC brotherhood
Walk
Fast Walk
Run
Sprint

Walk and fast walk are fine, you don't need to worry about that.

As for running, That happens when you move with high profile button pressed. The guards will not detect you in this mode only IF you are behind them. My recommendation tho, is that even if you are approaching a guard from behind, release the high profile button (Rt or right mouse) before you actually get to the guard. If you feel like a guard is about to turn, use fast walk to close the distance.

Other than that mostly you just need to be careful about the guards sightlines and general patrolling patterns. With enough practice you should be fine. Hell, If a dumbass like me can do it, No reason you cannot.

Also Use your tools. Don't make the same mistake I did.
