Now he has announced that he is retiring due to heart failure while four years into developing "the spiritual successor" to NITW, causing both the game to be cancelled and the team to be dissolved.
Karma collected.
Sorry, I must have missed your post. Yeah, seems kind of eerie. However, I'd rather see Alec's name finally cleared of the nonsensical allegations than anything bad happen to anyone involved (whatever I think of them).
Today marks 5 years since Alec's death. Here' s just a random cover I found.
My post, toward the end. Again, for my money, those who were giving side-eye to Alec's sister had very good reason to do so, as it turns out. Benson too, obviously; but from what I hear he's not doing too good.
Mind you, I don't mean this in any way as some sort of revenge or come-uppance. It's just good to keep apprised as to what this whole culture is like, what they're up to.
No, I didn't. That's sad if true. I was hoping the heirs would focus on finishing the last game they had been working on together (something set in the Canadian woods I beleive), but I guess it's now safe to say that the project has been abandoned forever.
Don't forget co-creator Derek Yu (Spelunky) in there. Aquaria was amazing. It and Pixel's Cave Story together basically launched indie game-making into the stratosphere. Neither brought anything entirely new to the table, but they proved that small-team productions could be just as quality as games made by big studios.
Wait what? Can somebody explain that? I knew there were some things in this "team" that were horrendous but I don´t have all the infos?
You'd need one of those crazy push-pin maps with scraps and photos tacked to the wall to fully explain it, but the quick-and-dirty is that Alec's partner Scott teamed up with Chelsea van Valkenburg (aka "zoe quinn") to torch Alec's credibility and mental well-being. They did this so ruthlessly and efficiently that Alec took a long walk off a short pier. Alec's estate went into the hands of his sister, who now partners with many of the same folks involved in hounding him to destruction in a DEI scam, paying herself and friends to be the principals of a fake diversity not-for-profit that does the same racket as Sweet Baby Inc, except on a far smaller scale.
The whole thing is supremely messed up and everyone involved is foul.
Damn I hope they get their Karmas worth ...
