For me it was 42 hours, I'm a completionist and played on normal. I'm guessing for average player it will be a bit more than 30 hours.

Yeah, My first time it was over 40 hours. Now it takes me 35-38 hours to complete this game.

First playthrough is easily 25-35 hours if you explore everywhere and do everything.
Prey is flawed but underrated as well. One of the best immersive sims ever in my opinion.

Depends, it will take you two playthroughs to do two different styles of gameplay, in an ideal scenario. Took me 20 Hours on Nightmare first time, maybe a little bit less. But i am familiar with these games, and this was basically System Shock 3 for me, quality wise, nothing can surpass it, it's in the same league as Thief, SS, and Original Deus Ex.

But i have 80 hours clocked because the DLC is one of the best. Plus i did beat the game a few times.

25-35 for first run completionist is in the ballpark. I dunno how people do it but I have repeatedly seen people take 40-80 hours. This game does not have that much content. The game is on the long end of the spectrum for immersive sims. The DLC Mooncrash will take 12-20 hours to complete.

My first playthrough was 45 hours (no DLC). That's a nice respectable amount and it felt just right for this game.

You must rush thru it by missing most things then. If I tried to rush it I might be able to do a Nightmare level run in around 25 hours, but would feel empty afterwards. Currently 28 hours in on Nightmare and just went out to free up the hatch on an escape capsule. Ended up in a major fight where I killed 2-cystoid swarms, 2-technopaths, and 1-weaver before I could take care of the hatch. It's just one boss fight after another.

Not really, I've recorded a complete playthrough on normal settings where I do every quest possible on the "good guy" path in just over 12 hours (see end screen in pt. 23):

Add on painstakingly pausing for every email and book and transcribe, hunting down every crew member possible (can't do ones in IT closet e.g.), farming nightmares and blackbox operators, recycling every turret and reployer, gathering all crumpled notes and banana peels and maybe, MAYBE the run would have come to 25 hours or so. This is totally unedited or clipped footage, just manually recorded in 30 minute chunks.

I do the quest you're describing here; it takes me about 13 minutes total, between about 5:11:30 and 5:24:30 in the playthrough including a detour out to the marooned shuttle:

Never attempted a speed run and never will. This game has too much to offer when taking my time and enjoying it.

I just finished the game first time and it took me 16 hours. I didnt rush it that much and did some of the optional missions on my way.

I took about 25 to 30 on my first playthrough but I know I spent a lot of time faffing about exploring and experimenting. (And I read and listen to everything on the first playthrough too.)

40 hours i donno what you are doing..

Thats on normal doing all missions and finding nearly everyone and everything.
Don't know why, but I encounter an abnormal ammount of enemy's.
