Prey
What is...the Reployer?
I have an idea of what this thing REALLY is:
The TranStar Ready-To-Deploy Lawyer

At the word "lawsuit" these things will deploy the litigous version of the A-Bomb, the F-Bomb, and Boney M* upon the unfortunate victim to the convenience of whomever has one installed in their office.

That explains the air and food holes at the top! When it has passed its freshness date then it has a convenient shape to tip up and empty out into any convenient Recycler.

The backstory of the company rather explains the necessity of these things...

(You've probably already seen it mentioned elsewhere, but it was a "thingy" object in development for a while where the in-joke is that even the characters of the game themselves remark about ... uh, what does it do?)

This is indeed one of my most burning questions about Prey after playing through the game.

It looks like an inside joke to me, even finishing the game once and i got no answer.
Maybe it is a reference of something we don't get?

I just can't seem to shake the feeling that I really need one.

have you tried lugging one to your office to see if anything happens?

There's a transcribe that hits at their significance. It's found next to a dead body in the cargo bay, during the shipping and receiving quest.

It would be pretty cool to see 3 sea shells in one of the stalls too lol

The real question is "Where is October?"
We obviously know January, and can meet December, but in one of the late game logs, we are introduced to October....

Future DLC maybe?

Yeah, I think it's an Arkane internal joke. I think it's a misspelling for 'redeployer', though frankly I don't understand what this thing is supposed to actually do in the game.

Indeed an in-joke as I put in () above, but I'm having fun reading what folks think it might possibly be along with other setting items. This topic has reached a couple of Discord channels as well. :Khappy:

I figured it out.

1. Insert component A in left port
2. Insert component B in right port
3. .....
4. Profit!

Awsome movie, and my first introduction to the hotness known as Sandra Bullock.

They key to everything! Once reployed, the Typhon threat will be gone forever! We simply MUST reploy as much and as soon as possible! With reployment, mankind is DOOMED!

It's a deployer with looping action.

Sandra Bullock in a uniform* ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

In Speed she was okay, but as a peace officer ... I'm doing a champ effort resisting all of the arrest puns I can think of off the cuff.

One who I think would have really loved this game's story/setting: Philip K. ♥♥♥♥

If you've not heard of him by now you've probably read/watched/played something inspired by his works in some way. The movie Screamers was a great influence of "creepy ♥♥♥♥ can be hiding in plain sight" in this style, the bear most of all. And, to a point without going too heavily into spoilers, Prey takes a bit of a theme from that movie's source material, the short story Second Variety.
