They destroyed Westwood (Command & Conquer), they destroyed Maxis (Sim games), they destroyed Bioware now, and have a lot of other gmaes where they took over the companies and then destroyed the series...
And you want to ♥♥♥♥♥ to Bethesda about this game? You CLEARLY have no grasp on what is going on in the industry to be hating on Bethesda for Prey.
Sigh
FIrst they didn't bully a third party developer, they filed a trademark claim (as they have to do in regards to US trademark law or they risk the chance of being unable to enforce trademarks in the future)
Second they sent out early copies of Prey, just not to professional reviewers (as they as a company decided to stop that practice) There choice really.
They never said this game is a spiritual succsor to system shock (which falls on the titles Bioshock and Dead Space) they instead it was a game inspired by system shock or a system shock like game.
These cool ideas you claim have become tropes of the genre for years and years and years and has affected all sorts of games from Doom, to Call of Duty, Fear, Bioshock, Deadspace, Alien Vs Predator, and yes even dishonored (which though has more in line with say thief than system shock, both of which are looking glass titles)
Regardless though, this topic has been brought up multiple times in this forum. So use the search feature in the future.

SS3 is being published by Starbreeze studios. EA lost the rights to SS.
DID IT REALLY!? :D
Starbreeze have actually made some quite good games.

It should be noted that Otherside Entertainment is basically Looking Glass Studios.
But ultimatly EA lost the rights to System Shock and they are now owned by Night Dive Studios.
Night Dive Studios are the guys who made System Shock Enhanced Edition for moder platforms, and they are also currently working on a kickstarted project of System Shock Reboot/Remaster.

Instead of just complaining, I’m willing to put my words to actions by voting with my wallet and let companies know why. I certainly will not defend companies for their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nor people who do what is being told no matter how badly it stinks.
Here is ling to article where small indie devs change their game title from Prey for the Gods to Praye to the Gods to avoid fight with Bethesda.

In my opinion this whole trademark nonsense has gone too far. Do you really defend a company who says that there cannot be word ‘prey’ in the game title? If so from my point of view you are part of the problem. Why I’m not surprised that there will be several Zenimax/Bethesda defender fanboys. Many of u pre-order video games from them too, right? I hope I’m wrong.
This sounds totaly lunatic to me. Prey reminds me of System Shock a lot. But in a good way. It has System Shock vibe with new story, enemies and cool game mechanics (mimics). Great game and great gameplay. Im happy that there are still companies producing such a complex games. And still -heres someone ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about stealing System Shock 3. What about Dishonered and new Deus Ex - also stealers, because gameplay is similar? Wake Up.
To be clear Zenimax is Bethesda. Zenimax is a company created by Bethesda for tax and shareholder purposes, and while they own Bethesda on paper both of them are Bethesda.
Bethesda stopped sending out review copies of there games to professional reviewers, which incidently is there choice. Honestly game jouralists arn't what they used to be, and quite frankly I don't blame them for making that decision. Instead Beth sends out review copies to youtubers instead.
Trademark law requires companies to activly protect there trademarks (even if it seems stupid) as any case of them not doing it can undermine them in court when actually trying to enforce it for real. All big companies (and small companies who own trademarks) do this. In most cases its settled entirely out of court and its the "attempt" that matters. Note in both trademark cases in recent Beth history (scrolls for Mojang, and Prey of the Gods) either the name wasn't changed or it was simply spelled differntly. EA, Ubisoft, Valve, and even CD project Red does this. It only blew up in Beth's face in these two situations because both of the developers went to twitter before going to there laywers and finding out it was a perfectly normal situation.
Here is link to an article why Prey is not sequel to their previuos Prey.

Yes because they needed a new title for the IP and Arkane said they would only do it if they were allowed to completely rewrite the game world because they wanted to make a System Shock like game. And Beth agreed to it. None of which has any bearing on your orginal post.
You took just part of what I said and use it to discredit it all. Granted I shouldn't have posted in such a rush where I cannot bring my point about this one issue more clearly. It is large issue and and I think I've only touched it.
Thanks for your replies. I hope I made myself clear, finally :o
Are you cray cray? Be thankful.
Are you offended by VALVE literally stealing original PREY's portals (down to the orange rims) and making two high-grossing games out of it?
BESIDES this is undoubtedly a successor to the original PREY.
- Main protagonist is non-white
- Fighting aliens with supernatural powers
- Looking Glass techonology is the same as portals in PREY
- Spacewalks and zero gravity games
Future? Dude this has been happening throughout the industry since the industry started. It's nothing new.
