It's harder to find a video they didn't pay for than one that they did.

Pretty much every major youtuber that has made a video has been paid to be nice about it. Whether you think that's good or bad is upto you but it's better to know what they are upto and know the positivity is paid positivity. You are not going to get legit coverage of this game from most people.

They are pretty much paying everyone that will take the money right now, so don't expect many youtubers to not say nice things about it. Heck, maybe they will even tell you it's the next half life!

And the guy does even say Bethesda sponsored the video, so they ARE actually paying people to stream their game. Saying Bethesda is paying people to say nice things about Prey is still speculation and up to you to decide for yourself.

Does it? Because they put out a demo, for everybody with a PS4 or an Xbox One to play. Why would they do that if they were afraid it was going to flop? Did they think the Skyrim remaster was going to flop? Because they did this then too.

I don't know; I'd think that the last thing a publisher looking to throw a glamour over a weak product would want to do is put out a demo anywhere. Not to mention, even if You MacTuberson there is saying purely nice things about Prey, you're still watching him play the actual game. You can still see what this thing looks like and if it seems good or bad.

But like I said before, it ultimately doesn't matter. Bethesda can't hide Prey once it comes out. Nobody is going to get the wool pulled over their eyes who doesn't choose to.

They refused to give out review copies and now they are taking some of the biggest youtubers that will accept the money and giving them a really good reason to be positive about it while playing.

Whether it matters or not is upto potential buyers to decide, it's nice to know what they are upto though.

Dude the guy who's video you posted specifically says that he usually won't do promotional videos because he doesn't like the idea of HAVING to say nice things about their game because they are paying him to, and he said Bethesda told him to "just play how he normally would and that's all."

So a) he's being completely up front about being paid so it's not like they are trying to pull anything over on us. And b) if he wasn't enjoying it he could say so, and can play how he wishes.

Also you should keep in mind, that Publishers now use bots or farmed tons of fake accounts on metacritic and steam, that some promotional agencies or in house publisher division farm, and then these fake accounts used to flood steam and metacritic with FAKE POSITIVE reviews.

There are also deep undeground services and communities where some real steam and metacritic users lurk for money or free games to complete tasks of ditry publishers and give positive score to games that dont deserve that.

And there are ofcourse brainless sheeps - people with crowd controlled mindset. They dont have their own opinion and afraid to tell what they really think, and they just copy-paste opinions of stronger majority.
So if there are 9 fake positive reviews and once sincer negative, sheep people will say something positive, if majority is negative they will say something negative, and i think most of reviews are left by people like this.

Ehh, even if you care about this, it just comes down to whether or not you trust the guy streaming the game. If you don't, why are you watching his stuff? If you do, then there's nothing scummy going on. No matter which way you look at this, it's not a big deal.

And again, they didn't give out review copies of the Skyrim remaster until the day before launch either. That's Bethesda's stated policy for all their games now.

oh ♥♥♥♥ off dude. we all know that companies pay them under the table to say the game is good. he's right about bots. more than half of the top youtubers, streamers and people on soundcloud, buy their views and subs. some of them even buy bot programs. shut up. i've done it myself and it actually works. can get 5k views in 2 days.
