If you need to spend a lot of ammo - not really, but depends on how much resources you have. Best way to kill him imo is q-beam, and you can get a LOT of ammo for it near the end of the game. I killed them just for fun, killin' xenos is just the way we do it :snaggletooth:

so what did you get after killing it? any good stuff?

Nope, just 30 organs. Basically same as killing 30 mimics, not really worth it, unless you really want the material.

i kill it everytime... I have necropsy so i get about 30 tumors and another unique typhon drop as well... so you get tons of exotic materials from him... which means more neuromods.... first few encounters can be a little crazy.... but once you get more abilities it makes fighting it almost a joke.... psychoshock disables it from using its abilities and does damage.... i have maxed my pistol and damage with security weapons... and with combat focus maxed out you can pretty much face melt it with all the above easy before it even notices you practically.... and not even use a full magazine of pistol ammo (im maxed at 27 rounds with golden gun).... psychoshock, combat focus, then pistol volley.... its dead.... and time is still slow enough for me to run about 20 meters to it and loot its remains before they hit the ground... sometimes i even force it to spawn by installing a typhon mod just so i can kill it... but I also have the increase recycle mod and the adventurer suit chipset so i get max amount of materials from recycling... early on you wanna try to either run to a safe spot where it cant reach you well or sneak to a safe spot and take it out safely if you want to kill it... otherwise you wont find any other typhon with that much exotic material profit... using a upgraded pistol to kill one typhon to get a few neuromods worth of exotic material is good imo... when it only costs 2 minerals and 1 synthetic to make 30 rounds of pistol ammo.... and takes less than that to kill it... so yeah... worth it

Dude, you really need to use ... less. Also necropsy imo is one the most useless upgrades you can have. I had over 100 exotic material at the end of the game without it, so really don't see a point in investing into it.

Not really worth it. In my playthrough mineral material was the only limiting factor in crafting. In the late game I had 30-60 of all other mats just sitting in my inventory.

So trading ammo for even more exotic material made no sense....

There is no experience on this game, and the enemy only drop organic and rare materials, no items that actually help you.
Avoid to fight them

Think of it this way: you get 30 Typhon Organs. That's enough exotic material to make 3 Neuromods. If you have the Combat Focus and a Shotgun fully upgraded with all damage perks, there's no reason not to kill everything you see, even on the highest difficulty.

Neuromods take more than just exotic materials to make as I recall, though. Like metal and synthetic material that you also need for ammo.

I only played this on Nightmare, the enemy Nightmare wasn't particularly challenging, I only had the silenced pistol. I didn't get anything worth killing it for. I didn't need neuromods all I needed was more Pistol ammo. So no, not always worth it,.

If you have the Psychoshock and Leverage mods Nightmares are easy to farm.
Silence their ranged attack, throw some cargo at them, don't get stepped on.

With a fully maxed shotty they're fairly easy to bring down. Usually five blasts do the job and they provide 30 units of material. It's much better than having them hunt your a$$ down and give you grief.

I encountered a nightmare and a corupted operator, and always wanting Q beam ammo and spare parts along with stun gun batteries I machine-mind'd the operator, and to my surprise, it took the nightmare down to half health before machine mind wore off and it flew out of range, and Nightmare must have a thing for operators, as it refused to defend itself and wreck the operator, which was my intent.

Killing a Nightmare always gives you 30 typhon tumors, a Typhon cranial organ, and actually causes the nightmare to respawn 10 minutes later.

I was farming him with p.shock and kinetic blast while making quick trips to the water fountian. If you're using psionics and you've altered the water supply it's nothing but profit. He's also very easy to stay away from if you've boosted your mobility.
