There were other choices that had a much bigger impact on the ending for me so maybe it's just the achievement.
There is some event that only occurs when you have Typhon mods installed. That thing happens regualry for the rest of the game. There is also a side quest to influence the probabilty of the event. Some players like that event because its an additional challenge, some players hate it. It also depends on your difficulty setting how severe that event can be.
This is me being as vague as possible.
Its not really story relevant but for the gameplay, i put it in spoilers:
The more Typhon mods you have installed the higher the probability is that a "Nightmare" typhon will spawn in the area you are currently in. Those things will hunt you down and follow you everywhere.
You need to either kill them, hide from them or wait out the 3 minute timer when they appear. They spawn regualry for the rest of the game.
There is a side quest to repair a satellite that will send out a signal that dampens the Nightmare spawn signal so they appear much less but you can also boost the signal so they spawn constantly for more challenge.
You did see his " no spoilers please" ? ^^"
Also turrets won't shoot at you just for having a handful of Typhon neuromods, you need to invest in a handful of them before the turrets will shoot you on sight.
You are injecting alien material (neuromods) in both cases and after a certain amount of neuromods, you have enough alien material inside that turrets classify you as typhon.
You can always hack the turrets to make them friendly.
Anyway, looks like I'll be tossing two Typhon mods at my human character, then. Probably Morph and Psychoshock. Regeneration would be nice, but if I'm not spending mods on typhon abilities, I'll probably have enough healing from the Scientist tree. Nullwave Transmitters are harder to come by than bags of chips :D
Oh, and I know I can hack turrets. However, I want to try to use turrets a lot, and hacking them every time might get annoying (especially since I'm not super great at the hacking game) isn't worth purchasing some Typhon mods over some others. Morph and Psychoshock are probably the two most useful and relatively cheap purchases to make. If I actually run out of Human mods to get in that playthrough, then I'll probably pick up some more Typhon mods and just hack the turrets.
It's possible that the game just has a wonky difficulty curve in general, regardless of your mod choices.
And if the only reward for a pure human run is the achievement if you also do a pure typhon run... that's something I won't even think about attempting until I've done a few 'natural' playthroughs first. Far more likely to splash Morph and Psychoshock on a human Morgan, and the Psychoscope skills on a heavily Typhon Morgan.
