Remaining Human
So, besides the one achievement for All Human and All Typhon playthroughs, is there any reason at all to not get a single Typhon mod? I know that turrets start targetting you at 3 Typhon Mods, but that's it.

I wanted to do a full human run, but I figured that Morph and Regeneration or Psychoshock would add a lot to the build without hitting the turret breakpoint (yes, I know turrets aren't a big deal, but it's a nice place to draw the line with some small benefit). But if there's some benefit to not using a single Typhon mod (besides maybe a one-off line of dialogue somewhere) then I might as well remain pure.

No spoilers please, just a yes or no answer, maybe clarified with how big of a deal it is. Slightly changed ending wouldn't stop me, but if the ending is fundamentally different for a 'pure' character, then that'd change my mind.

I went full human and I don't think it made much difference in terms of the ending as I have seen a video of the different types of ending you can get.
There were other choices that had a much bigger impact on the ending for me so maybe it's just the achievement.

I started a humnan only but thought I screwed up with Who is Decmber? so started game again, avoided what I shouldnt have been so curious about early on, found out December still goes a certain way, so game # 2 I did take a typhon ability, you can really get around fast as a mimic'ed toliet paper roll...

Well yes, there is another benefit of being pure human apart from the turrents not targeting you.
There is some event that only occurs when you have Typhon mods installed. That thing happens regualry for the rest of the game. There is also a side quest to influence the probabilty of the event. Some players like that event because its an additional challenge, some players hate it. It also depends on your difficulty setting how severe that event can be.

This is me being as vague as possible.

Its not really story relevant but for the gameplay, i put it in spoilers:
The more Typhon mods you have installed the higher the probability is that a "Nightmare" typhon will spawn in the area you are currently in. Those things will hunt you down and follow you everywhere.
You need to either kill them, hide from them or wait out the 3 minute timer when they appear. They spawn regualry for the rest of the game.
There is a side quest to repair a satellite that will send out a signal that dampens the Nightmare spawn signal so they appear much less but you can also boost the signal so they spawn constantly for more challenge.

Nightmares frequently appear if you get alien mods, I like Nightmares. Play the game a few times, do different builds! That's part of the replay factor, right?

Nightmares will appear no matter what you do, even if you go without any neuromods at all.

Also turrets won't shoot at you just for having a handful of Typhon neuromods, you need to invest in a handful of them before the turrets will shoot you on sight.

From lore perspective it doesn't matter whether you inject human abilities or typhon abilities.

You are injecting alien material (neuromods) in both cases and after a certain amount of neuromods, you have enough alien material inside that turrets classify you as typhon.

You can always hack the turrets to make them friendly.

Well, to be fair, the 'recurring event' was something I was already aware of, and represents a gameplay mechanic, and not a story mechanic. I was mostly concerned with not spoiling the story, so even if I didn't know about the event, it's not the kind of thing I'd have been bothered by.

Anyway, looks like I'll be tossing two Typhon mods at my human character, then. Probably Morph and Psychoshock. Regeneration would be nice, but if I'm not spending mods on typhon abilities, I'll probably have enough healing from the Scientist tree. Nullwave Transmitters are harder to come by than bags of chips :D

Oh, and I know I can hack turrets. However, I want to try to use turrets a lot, and hacking them every time might get annoying (especially since I'm not super great at the hacking game) isn't worth purchasing some Typhon mods over some others. Morph and Psychoshock are probably the two most useful and relatively cheap purchases to make. If I actually run out of Human mods to get in that playthrough, then I'll probably pick up some more Typhon mods and just hack the turrets.

I found the human skills more useful, so threw all of my neurmods into those and maxxed them out. They seem better suited to survival and exploration, and the security ones significantly improve combat with firearms. I never felt like I needed any Typhon mods to tip the balance in my favour, because I was smashing it.

Oh, I dunno... with my more Typhon heavy first playthrough (not finished yet, I have terminal alt-itis :D) I'm ressurecting lightning shadow zombies and completely disabling Nightmares and Telepaths with Psychoshock.

It's possible that the game just has a wonky difficulty curve in general, regardless of your mod choices.

There also a huge difference in Gameplay I did my HA only run and currently doing a Typhon only run and I notice some difference instantly. Spare part are useless in typhon run (take them so you can make neuromod) Early game for typhon only run is quite hellish, your limited to the weapons you can use unlike a HA only run where you can use all the weapons in the game. You cannot hack so some loot is unobtainable (Damage hackable only keypad). Some area may be harder or easier to do

That's why I'm not terribly interested in getting that achievement. I may play Typhon or Human focused characters, but I don't think I'll run a dedicated Typhon run. Especially since the upgrades for your Psychoscope and Psi Pool are human mods. Sure, with the absorption abilities and an optional quest later on (not saying for spoilers, but people will know what I'm talking about) you'll have plenty of Psi Points, but only being able to install two psychoscope mods would be some extra icing on the cake pain in the butt.

And if the only reward for a pure human run is the achievement if you also do a pure typhon run... that's something I won't even think about attempting until I've done a few 'natural' playthroughs first. Far more likely to splash Morph and Psychoshock on a human Morgan, and the Psychoscope skills on a heavily Typhon Morgan.

But hey there some things you can't do as a Human ability only / no needle Morgan. such as scanning yourself

I finished the game fully human, since I only had spare neuromods at the very end and I didn't see much reason to start having typhoon skills at that point because the game made me think it would lead to a bad ending. But I didn't get any achievement, and I finished the game with a good ending, so I don't know what happened.
