Shift 2 Unleashed

Steering too twitchy with 360 controller.
I use a 360 controller and I find the steering way too twitchy. When I try to make small adjustments to the direction of the car going down a straight the car loses grip and I crash off the track?!?! I really like the game but this makes it unplayable for me.

ya ive had the same issues with the xbox controller, you go to turn and the back wheels just slide from side to side like you are driving in mud instead of the normal turning motion of a car

Totally agree the steering is terrible with a controller. I was trying it out real quick before dragging out my wheel, but now i might not bother.

Try this:

Steering Dead Zone: 3
Accelerator Dead Zone: 5
Brake Dead Zone: 5
Steering Sensitivity: 50
Acceleration Sensitivity: 50
Braking Sensitivity: 50
Speed Steering Sensitivity: 100

If you google around for "Shift 2 Unleashed Xbox 360 controller settings", you will find some good recomendations. Personally I would leave the Brake and accelerator dead zone in 0 and steering deadzone in 6 or 7.

Oh yeah, also, for removing the LAG input (you probably already notice it):

Go to the "Controller Default" folder in the game folder. Inside you will find a list of .xml files with various controllers. Edit the one with the Xbox 360 name (or any other that you are using or even better, all of them! xD) and change DampeningEnabled="1" string to "0".

Thanks. This helps a lot. But still not like I remember the demo on the console. Damnit EA. How do you screw this up. And then not even bother to fix it.

BTW, theres a mod out there that changes the command icons (like "Press [enter] to save") to the xbox controller icons. http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=31797

As far as I know, it's the same on the consoles versions. Actually it's even worse, because you can't fix/mod like on the PC. The input lag for example is there and there is nothing to do with it.
