Um this game wont start
Bought the game and it wont start. I get to the Play screen with the product key, click play then Play Shift 2 and nothing happens. Anyone else having this problem and found a solution for it?

1. First, you have to go to the setting menu: Control Panel, System and Security, System, Advanced System Settings.

2. Press Settings button to go to the setting option, and then you will see a point: Data Execution Protection.

3. Press Add Button to find shift2u.exe file.

4. Press Open.

5. Press Apply.

6. You will get into Shift 2 Unleashed: Need for Speed successfully.

Or you could just verify your cache files by right clicking on the game in your library, clicking local files, and then click on view integity of game cache. Worked for me.

Same here, I needed to go to the Shift 2 folderin the Steam folder and execute the game there.. flawless.

Steam REALLY fails..

Found a temporary fix for this dumbass game. Been trying to get it to play for 3 hours until I found this solution for other EA Games.

Go find the .exe for the game. Should be in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Need For Speed Shift 2

Make a copy of SHIFT2U.exe and rename the copy.

Now if you want to play, just launch the copied file you made. You won't be able to launch from Steam.

I didn't need to change the .exe name (or to copy it..), just by executing the .exe instead of launching it from Steam worked..

Steam FAILS BIG TIME.

EDIT: After doing ^ yesterday, today I can play normally from the Steam game. It seems than the problem is only the first time you try to run the game, after playing and restarting Steam it works ok.

I had the same problem with my Dead Space 2 when I bought it, after almost a whole year the game just one day worked. Currently, Shift won't work for me and i've tried all of the fixes posted here and nothing works. Looks like I'll just have to wait and see if it fixes itself eventually, unless anyone has another idea about how to fix this issue.

Having the same issues here. None of the suggestions listed above have worked nor have any of the other fixes I have tried. I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 games on Steam and this is the first one I've ever had these issues with.
