Run the download from steam, it does not start
are you running windows 10?
did you install PhysX for shift2? if not you can locate it inside install folder inside game folder Need For Speed Shift 2
C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Need For Speed Shift 2/install/PhysX/PhysX_9.10.0513_SystemSoftware.exe
i encounter same issue using windows 10 before the things i did to make this game run
first updating latest windows update including graphics card latest driver especially when using GTX 970 model and higher normally old games react weird when using new graphics cards
Go into the Install folder in the NFS Shift 2 Directory C:(x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Need For Speed Shift 2/Install
Open up the PhysX folder and double click on the PhysX 9.10.0513, and when the options come up select repair/re-install
Do the same for DirectX, and the vcredist_x86 file, then set the Need For Speed Shift 2 application to Run as Administrator, after that it should launch and work fine.
The Run as Administrator by itself might do the trick.
and, it works on my another computer with nvidia .... that's why i hate nvidia.
